Full details are below. thanks Jenny Bostock The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to BETTISON-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe, just send the command "subscribe" to BETTISON-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to BETTISON-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to BETTISON-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to BETTISON-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both.     3. Hey there! I am researching my great grandfather - Hiram Thomas Forbes Born October 17, 1904 Died May 1983 in Louisiana. My grandfather is deceased and my father only knows that he was born in Waxahacie, TX and that his father died when he was pretty young. He married Edna Lucille LeBaron abt 1933. If anyone has any information that could help me I would really appreciate it. I have sent off for his birth certificate but have not heard anything yet, thought I would try the Forbes list to see if one of you would know something. Thanks- Jan Stewart janste@amswin.com

    3. Hello all Today i visited Newport Pagnell Cemetry, and tried to write down as many surnames (and some MIs). Instead of clogging up the lists, by sending every surname, if anyone is interested in recieving a copy of what I recorded, let me know and I will happily send you one. If you even want a MI for one of the surnames (as part of your surname study/one name study/genealogy interests, I will see what I can do (free of course!)     3. Would appreciate any information on an ANDREW FORBES who was probably born in PA. He married Nancy Ann Alexander AGER (not sure if Alexander or Ager was her birth surname) on 17 Mar 1831, perhaps in PA as the first child was born there. I have no idea of Andrew FORBES' birth date or year even or parents' names. The first I know of him is in 1831, then he was in Monroe Co. MO in 1835 when he acquired land there and had died by 24 Sept 1835 in Monroe Co. MO. He and Nancy had children: William Wallace FORBES, b. 15 Jul 1832 in PA (according to censuses) Thomas Andrew FORBES b. 10 Dec 1834 Nancy later married Robert K. CRAWFORD of nearby Ralls Co. MO. Family later moved to Linn Co. MO and after Crawford's death, the Crawfords moved to CA, but I do not know what happened to the Forbes boys. Thanks for any help here. Joanne Joanne A.     3. I'm still looking for a place of the marriage of Andrew FORBES on 17 March 1831 to Nancy or Ann Alexander Ager. Don't know if her surname at time of marriage was Alexander or Ager. I'm thinking the marriage would be some place in PA since first child William Wallace Forbes was b. there July 1832. A second child Thomas Andrew Forbes was b. 1834, don't know where. Andrew was in Monroe Co. MO in 1835 when he acquired some gov't property there. He died in September 1835. Wife Nancy or Ann married in 1837 to Robert K. CRAWFORD of Ralls Co.
