Could someone please clarify the "Etienne" decendants of Etienne Fontaine and Marie Conile. If I am correct, Etienne and Marie had a son, Etienne. That Etienne married twice. He married Marie Madeleine Fournier and they had a son, Etienne. Now, Etienne, son of Etienne and Marie Conile also married Anne Francoise Mineau. Did they have a son, Etienne, too? I hope I am wrong, because I am getting confused. judith :)
Etienne Fontaine (Jacques & Jeanne Colinet) m. 8-Feb-1683 St-Laurent, I.O. Montmorency, QC, Nouvelle-France Marie Conille (Pierre & Marie Giton) Etienne Fontaine (see above) m(1). 16-Nov-1706 St-Laurent, I.O. Montmorency, QC, Nouvelle-France Marie Ann-Francoise Mineau (Rene & Jeanne Dufresne) m(2). 8-Sep-1715 St-Thomas, Montmagny, Montmagny, QC, Nouvelle-France Marie-Madeleine Fournier (Simon & Catherine Anne-Marie Rousseau) I do not have a son Etienne for the younger Etienne's first marriage. Only for his second marriage with Marie-Madeleine Fournier. Etienne Fontaine (Etienne & Marie-Madeleine Fournier) b. 23-Jan-1717 m. 13-Aug-1737 St-Francois-de-Riviere-Sud, Montmagny, QC, Nouvelle-France Marthe (Marie-Genevieve) Dagneau dit Laprise By his birth date, he is clearly a product of the second marriage, not the first. Hope this helps clear up the confusion. Did you find the conflict in a particular book, or just in your database? Hmmm. Looking over my information, there appears to be some confusion on the marriage of the youngest Etienne. PRDH says that Marthe (Marie-Genevieve) Dagneau/Daniau dit Laprise married Etienne Fontaine, son of Etienne and Marie Conille. This would be his third marriage. It makes sense, since Marie-Madeleine Fournier is rumored (i.e. I don't have proof :^) to have died in 1736. Instead I should have: Etienne Fontaine (Etienne & Marie-Madeleine Fournier) b. 23-Jan-1717 m. contract. 6-Jan-1739 Notaire C. Michon Catherine Gaudin (Pierre & Catherine Pellerin dit Colbec) If the three marriages of Etienne, son of Etienne & Marie Conille, is correct, he had 8 + 9 + 14 children for the three marriages respectively for a total of 31 children !! Boy, was he busy. :^) Then again, some died young. Tony Fontaine ----- Original Message ----- From: Tony Fontaine Etienne Fontaine (Jacques & Jeanne Colinet) m. 8-Feb-1683 St-Laurent, I.O.
