    1. [FONTAINE] Re: Ovide Fontaine
    2. Since you are asking the same question as Tom Fontaine, I will assume you two are both searching together. Roger and I have been trying to tell both of you that the Abenaki connection is probably false. We have seen stories of Indian connections in many family trees. For instance, my mother claims Indian heritage. After 15 years, we still haven't found any proof. We do know some Indian took "Christian" names for the marriage. So it may be hard to tell from records. Finding proof of Indian lineage is difficult at best. As we have said: Ovide Fontaine (François-Xavier & Cordélia Hamel) m.14-Nov-1910 St-Cyrille-de-Dendover, Drummond, QC Laura-Marguerite Lambert (Arsène & Philomène Chauvette) Ovide Fontaine b.25-Oct-1886 (Pierreville, QC ??) d.17-Oct-1968 Magog, Stanstead, QC We don't have proof yet that he was born in Pierreville yet. However, many of his siblings were born there, so the probability is great. We do not have information on the family history. We have located secondary sources of the marriage records and death records (with birth that is not always correct). Our notes say he lived for a while in Manchester, NH; Kingsey Falls, QC; and West Shefford, QC. Unsure of the sources for this information. We have 5 children for this couple so far. However, to make a positive connection, you need to collect and provide marriage information between Ovide and yourselves with the husband's name and maiden name of the spouse. This will help us determine from several people of the same name. You know the family history better than any one else (including us). Don't expect anyone elso to know it better. All we can find is little pieces of the puzzle from various records. Marriage, death, baptismal records and such are good sources to start with. Help us help you, PLEASE. www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/5233/ Canadian Fontaine Genealogy Association
