Both born in Canada app. 1838. There is indication that Joseph may be on the PION dit LAFONTAINE line, although I have no documentation for that, and don't know when the PION would have been dropped, or the simple FONTAINE adopted. The only information I have is 1. the birth record of their daughter, Mary, born Oct 23, 1868 in Westerly, RI---parents listed simply as Joseph and Philomena. 2. the marriage record of their daughter , Mary, married May 4, 1884 in Woonsocket, RI to Joseph Moreau. She and Joseph had 7 children that I know of. No parental information supplied. Mary was known as Antonia at the time of her marriage, listed as Antonia on her death certificate, and listed as Annie on the census records. 3. the death certificate of their daughter. She died in Riverside, RI on July 13, 1960. Parents listed simply as Joseph Fountain. No mother's name. 4. I have some biographical information on Walter Fontaine of RI, John Baptiste Fontaine, and Charles Fontaine, grandfather of Walter, who was born in St. Hyacinth, Canada. Walter owned property in the same area as my GGgrandmother, Antonia, and our family history states a connection to St. Hyacinth. I have just recently been told that the above are definitely of the PION DIT LAFONTAINE line, and feel very strongly that there may be a connection with my GGgrandparents. John Baptiste has the correct date and place of birth to be a brother or cousin to the Joseph that I seek. I have not yet, however, found a connection between my Joseph and this line. I am also looking for any information on the siblings of John Baptiste Pion dit Lafontaine, b. in 1836 in St Hyacinthe, QC, and d. 25, May, 1895 in Woonsocket, RI. He married Elodie "Ella" Prairie in Uxbridge, Ma. His parents are Charles Pion-Fontaine and Sophie Olivier. If you have any information on either the siblings of John Baptiste PION DIT LAFONTAINE or Joseph FONTAINE m. to PHILOMENE, LAST NAME UNKNOWN, I would be very appreciative.
