Hi Listers I am looking for any information for Louis Angustin Fontaine, b 1744 married May 31 1763 to Marie Charlotte Meunuier. Children possibly Louis, Antoine, Marie, John, and Josephte. Possibly Varennes, Quebec. Any ideas? Lisa
I have not come across any Burke's in the Fontaine databases I have. Sorry I couldn't help. Tony Fontaine ----- Original Message ----- From: Ann Feinstein Posted on: FONTAINE Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/f/o/FONTAINE/queries?read=11 Surname: Burk, Burke ------------------------- I am trying to trace my g.g.g.grandfather JAMES FONTAINE BURKE's ancestors. He is listed on the l850 Worcester County census aged 35 married to Gatty White Adkins. (Snow Hill Atkinsons Dist 7) He owned property in what is now Pocomoke. There are other Burks in Worcester/Somerset but I am unable to make a connection. His son William A. moved to Crisfield where my grandfather William Frederick and mother Irma Gladys were born. Does anyone have information on a Fontaine daughter who married a Burk(e)? Or, did a Fontaine daughter marry into another family whose daughter than married a Burk(e)? I need your help! I want to thank the responses I received from those I contacted using info from another website. Ann

Anyone out there with Canadian Fontaine connections and information to share? I have lots of info here and would love to connect. Tony Fontaine
I am looking for information on two of my ancestors both named Louis/Lewis Fontaine/Fountaine/Fountain. They were both born in Quebec, circa 1786. Louis #1 moved to Ontario, and joined the York Militia, serving in the War of 1812, he married Mary Appleton, settling in York County, until his death in 1860. Louis #2 married Mary/Marie Boutreaus in Quebec, and also moved to Ontario, to the Bay of Quinte first, and then to Gwillumbury. Any ideas? Lisa
Hello List, I've been making progress on the mid-western Fontaine's. Recently made connections with folks in Minnesota and North Dakota and their connection with their Fontaine ancestors from Quebec. The database is growing. Eventually I'll have all my resources straightened out (LOL). Current statistics for the four major Canadian Fontaine lines are: Descendants of: Pierre Fontaine dit Bienvenu - 26684 names Etienne Fontaine - 22855 names Nicolas Pion-Lafontaine - 6653 names [various] Lafontaine - 12637 Of course I still have lots of mistakes, but hopefully with time, many of these will be straightened out. Always need help from others, especially for their families and direct ancestors where resources are better than what I can find. For those people working on the Huguenot lineage's and others, I encourage you to share information on this list too. The list is not just for the Canadian Fontaine, but for anyone seeking their roots. Tony Fontaine (a French-Canadian-American)
Hello folks, Does anyone have any information on the FONTAINE's in the Grand Forks area of Michigan? I've found some information but not enough to connect people. Tony Fontaine
Harold (or any other interested person), I don't personally have any information on this line, but you can check out the following website and contact the person connected with it for more information. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lpproots/Fountaine/ You can also visit the web page I have created for links to other FONTAINE sites of interest. www.geocities.com/heartland/farm/5233/ I'm hoping this will help answer your questions since I can not help you. My main interest is in the Canadian FONTAINE lineages, but I know of some of the people researching the Huguenot lines. I have found referances to Rodger having 600 acres of land and in the 3-5 Minute book of Princess Anne County 1719-1743 there are dealings of the Fontaine family on page 58 Nov.4. 1719 ordered Edward Moseley pay five hundred pounds of tobacci to ye church wardens of his parrish for ffrances ffontaine for having a baseborn child both Edward Moseley and Rodger Fontaine were members of the Lynnhaven Parrish. My ggggrand father was named Fontaine Moseley his father was George Moseley b.1758 Va. also the Moseley family married into the Land families I also have a land deal with Christopher Cock which names Rodger Fontaine and Robert Fontaine it is dated 1722 We have never determined the parents of my George Moseley I also see where there was in the Land -Fountaine a Freeman Land in 1850 census of Hardin Co. Tenn (where my great great grand mother Parmilia Malissa Moseley Wade lived there was her brothers William and Samuel Moseley as well as a Freeman Moseley. It seems to me to be to many names that connect. Do you have anyone that may have further information on this line, I would be most greatful for you help Thank you for your time. I'm looking for a Fontaine that married Ellen Elphick Hale in California (probably San Francisco or Sonoma County). She was married to Fontaine as of 1892. Ellen was born in MA 1842. She was the widow of John Hale, whom she married in 1860's in MA. Believe Fontaine might also have died, and that she then married a Frances Corbin.
I'm looking for more information on FONTAINEs in the western Canadian provinces and north western states. Does anyone have links to people in this area? I have a bunch already, but I'm always looking for more. Tony Fontaine

Opps, I need to correct my previous information. Checked Tanguay and it says that Henri Petit was baptised in 1622; from St-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie, Paris; and buried 20-Nov-1686 in Quebec. No information on Elisabeth, his wife. I don't have any information on generations previous to them. Anybody have information on them from Jette? Tony Fontaine ----- Original Message ----- From: hartfiel@cfc.k12.wi.us Thank you for the information and they are the correct people. Do you have anything previous to Henri Petit dit Bruneau and Elisabeth Fontaine? Who Elisabeth's parents were? Or anything about them? Susan
I found them; parents of Joseph Petit-Bruneau that married Marie Chenay. Looking at what I have, it looks like they did not come to Nouvelle-France (New France). Joseph was born about 1645 in St-Médard de Paris. Died between 10-Jan-1718 and 5-Jul-1724 in Maskinongé, N-F. He was a merchant/marchand. If this is not the right couple, let me know. Tony ----- Original Message ----- From: hartfiel@cfc.k12.wi.us My name is Susan Hartfiel and my Fontaine is Elisabeth Fontaine born about 1625 married to Henri Petit dit Bruneau born about 1622. Do these match any of yours. Thanks for your help Susan
Hello everyone! Just trying to drum up some activity. Does anybody have any questions they need help with? For myself, I need vital information on spouses that married a FONTAINE. If you happen to have some to share, please let me know what you have and we can compare notes. Tony Fontaine
Darn, and this is one I SHOULD have. :^) I don't have that marriage. Closest I can guess is a Francois-Xavier Fontaine-Bienvenu b.11-Oct-1830 in St-Hyacinthe, St-Hyacinthe, QC. Parents Gabriel & Charlotte Tétreault. I don't have a marrage or death date for him. The date of his birth would fit well with marriage and children born in 1852. This is the closest I can get with the information I have. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Hello everyone.. I am looking for the (2nd) husband of an Ellen Elphick in California. Ellen was born in Sussex, England in 1849, daughter of Levy Elphick and Harriet Wood. She first married John Hale of MA (sometime between 1865 and 1869 when their daughter Caroline was born.) She was in California, widowed (probably living Sonoma County or San Francisco area) when she married Fontaine. She was married to him as of 1893, when her father Levy died. ( he died in Tulare County, but had just gone there from San Francisco.) She later married a Francis Corbin. Ellen had siblings Thomas (Rochester,NY) George and William (in Canada). Also sisters Harriet and Henrietta-no further info on them. Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Ellen is one of my 'mystery people' I've been searching for for a long time. rutha29@hotmail.com
