    3. Folks, Just wanted to let you know that Daniel Fontaine in Montreal has recently joined us. If you need help with Canadian Fontaines, he is the best person to ask. Since he lives only a couple of blocks from the main record respositories in the city, he is able to help with some of your requests. Keep the request simple and provide as much information as possible. Tony Fontaine

    3. Terry, I strongly suspected but now after seeing the response from Tony I'm certain that your husband is descended from the same Fontaine line as my husband. My husband Tony (not the same one as above), is also part of the Pion-LaFontaine line and his g grandfather was Elzear Eugene Fontaine b. 1872. Our other Fontaine researcher, Daniel has sent me the ascendance from Elzear clear back to Nicolas Pion dit LaFontaine who came from France. I can't see exactly where your Jean-Baptiste fits in but I'm sure if we could take your line back one or two more generations we would find the connection. I also have the addresses for a few other Pion-LaFontaine descendants who I'm sure would love to hear from you if you're interested. I look forward to hearing from you. Carol

    3. I am looking for ANY information about Francois Fontaine dit Le Suisse. He married Marie-Louise Amable Massy in 1769 in Montreal (Protestant Church). I'm guessing that he was sent over to Canada during the French & Indian War in the 1750s, but I may be completely wrong. Can anyone help? Jane Lavallée Kenn

So what ever information you have on them and their descendants would be appreciated. Tony Fontaine ----- Original Message ----- From: S. Burke Thank-you for all of the information that you sent. I believe my ancestor is the Louis Augustin Fontaine that is listed as born in 1786. My Louis was listed as Fontaine when he joined the York Militia. He was born in Quebec, 1786. By the time he left the Militia, and in the later Census', his last name had been changed to Fountain. I have quite a bit of information for his descendants, and would love to know more about him and his family. Where is Varennes, Quebec? Thank-you again Lisa
