Tony, Rockwell Alexandre Welcome's trade was a Blacksmith and on October 1st, 1873 he was working on a horse and suffered a kick to the head which resulted in is death at an early age. He was buried at the Old Catholic Cemetery in Plattsburg. He had 14 brothers and sisters. Rockwell Jr. was the oldest of 8 children born May 02, 1860 in Plattsburg and when Rockwell was a young boy living in New York he was sailing on an ice boat on Lake Champlain and he lost control of the boat in the wind and it overturned and his left forearm went under the steel blade runner causing a severe gash to the arm. The injury got infected and the lower arm had to be amputated. This prevented Rockwell from following in the family trade of Blacksmithing. Rockwell apprenticed to be a carriage painter at a wagon works in upstate New York. He also lost two fingers from his only hand. Rockwell married Mary Ann Oulighan b. September 21, 1870, Halifax, NS, daughter of James Oulighan and Jane Mitchell on August 22, 1889 at St. Jean Baptiste Church, Lowell, Ma. In 1893 he worked for George M. Dole Carriage and Sign Painters at 23 West Third St. in Lowell and would come home after varnishing and painting carriages all day, Mary Ann would have to wash his "hand" before dinner since he could not easily do this on his own. I can send more details, children, dates, if you want. Brian

Hi Rog, Yes, Do you know where Mary Ann Dufresne was born and where she died and any more info on her parents? I also found that Claudius maybe had another wife, Marinda, b. abt 1821? Can this be right? I also need info on Marguerite Beaudry. Thanks, Brian
Brian O., Charles Claude Fontaine-Bienvenu was the son of Gabriel Archange Fontaine-Bienvenu & Marguerite Beaudry. Mary Anne Dufresne info is correct. Need any more info? Rog

Tony, Yes. I have a fair amount on one of his brothers, including a picture or two, plus some postcards and other fun stuff like that. I can give you a little bit on the rest of the brothers, but I have this as second-hand information from a lookup done by a woman on the Quebec Genealogical Society's page. I don't know if I have the source or not, but I will try to get it. Let me know if you're interested!
