Terri _______________________________________________________ Words from a Simple Heart Over the course of a day, whether or not we're big talkers, we say a lot. Words come out in spits and spurts, a few sentences here, a paragraph or two there. If we're really on a roll, a barrage let's loose. At the end of the day, discounting everything said by everyone else, take stock of what, exactly, came out of your mouth. Did the contents of your words pollute or cleanup your environment? Did you speak in reaction to the world around you, or act on your own accord? Given the chance, did you build someone up or tear them down? In the face of something intolerable, did you speak up, or let your silence speak volumes? In the quiet moments before you drift off to dream, when all the words of the day have been spoken, tally the glory of the things you said. Should there be nothing to count, you are accountable for the nothingness. But wait! That's not fair. Your friend hurt your feelings. Your spouse made you angry. Your kids drove you nuts. Your boss was overbearing and rude. What's a person to do when the world dumps its garbage on your doorstep? The scale may not be tipped in your favor, but you're the only one who can balance its weight. Heap the garbage higher, or rise above it. Living in love and loving life, Terri McPherson
