    3. Keith's nephew was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Poor little guy. : ( two shots a day. They caught it just in time. His blood sugar was running so high his organs were shutting down when they hospitalized him. He took his shot in the front room when the kids were there so they could see how brave he is. :*) HUGS, kath NEWS... Vitamin D May Cut Risk of Type 1 Diabetes Researchers report that infants who receive the recommended daily dose of vitamin D may have a lower risk of developing type 1 diabetes. According to a recent study published in the November 3, 2001 issue of The Lancet, babies who received at least 2,000 international units of vitamin D daily were nearly 80% less likely to develop type 1 diabetes over the next three decades, compared with infants who had lower intakes of the vitamin.
