Alexandra was in the ambulance. By Jim Warda Gina called me at work. Through her tears, I heard that our daughter had fallen. The paramedics were there so she couldn't stay on. I've never moved so fast. Driving home, I barely noticed the other cars. Dangerous, yes. But, when your child's hurt, nothing else matters. On the way, Gina called again. She had the boys in the van and was following behind the ambulance. I wanted to drive my body through the holes on the phone to be with them. Finally, after a thousand years, I made it to the emergency room. As I ran in, I saw Gina and the boys next to a bed. On it, Alexandra was strapped on a backboard, screaming. But, I didn't know if she was screaming from pain or because she was restrained while being examined. As I walked to my shaken family, my legs buckled. But then, a poem flashed to mind, that reads "Our family is a circle of strength and love. With every birth and every union, the circle grows. Every joy shared adds more love. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger." Remembering those words gave me resolve. And, my family needed me. Gina had bravely been through hell already. Plus, the boys were scared. So, I held her and told the boys that everything was going to be O.K. Later, Gina went with Alexandra for x-rays, to "guard against paralysis," as the nurse said. While she did, I kept the boys busy with guessing games. Finally, they let us take our baby home. Alexandra's fine. But, our family has changed. The circle is stronger. «:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«^i^MISSI ^i^«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§« Richiele Marie [email protected] (Missi) I disbelieved in reincarnation in my last life, too. »§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«
