    3. A little factoid for Thanksgiving/Christmas 2001. This might be a good thing to print for your scrapbook so that future generations can see what life was like "back in the good old days !!" Of course 1000 people doesn't constitute much of a cross reference, but it makes for a good reference on what entertainment is available at the turn of THIS century !! Cece ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BUT THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME An overwhelming majority (95 percent) of Americans are planning to stay home or close to home for the holidays. That’s according to a survey commissioned by Philips Consumer Electronics and conducted by Impulse Research Corporation, which polled more than 1,000 Americans regarding how they will spend their time at home this holiday season. They won’t be roasting chestnuts on an open fire. 70 percent of respondents said they’ll use home electronics (camcorders, DVD recorders or still-photography cameras) to create their holiday memories, and more than half (54 percent) will gather around the TV. More than one third of respondents (37 percent) enjoy spending time watching holiday classics or listening to holiday music. 46 percent of people surveyed said family gatherings are their favorite way to spend time during the holidays. Digital wide- screen televisions, DVD players, audio products and PC-based home entertainment items top holiday wish lists this season. More than half of the respondents (59 percent) are hoping to find DVD products such as DVD players and recorders under the Christmas tree. 27 percent would like a digital wide-screen TV, while 15 percent hope to find audio equipment such as a CD recorder/player or MP3 recorder/player stuffing their stocking. A complete home theater system was the top choice on holiday wish lists for 24 percent of respondents. (Web site: news.philips.com)
