Space Weather News for March 31, 2002 http://www.spaceweather.com COMET CONJUNCTION: Got dark skies? Can you see the western horizon? If you answered "yes" to both these questions, then you could be in for a treat just after sunset on April 4th. As the sky fades to black, Comet Ikeya-Zhang and the great Andromeda Galaxy will meet about 10 degrees above the western horizon. The pair will be dimly visible to the unaided eye -- even so, binoculars are recommended. Visit spaceweather.com for finder charts and other details... AURORA WATCH: Meanwhile, our planet has entered a high speed solar wind stream flowing from a coronal hole on the Sun; solar wind gusts could trigger auroras. For as long as Earth remains inside the stream, high-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for Northern Lights. ---
