    1. [FOLKLORE FAMILY] I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS LYING DOWN
    2. Turk McGee
    3. I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS LYING DOWN The owner of a tanning salon in Ft. Worth, Texas, was a bit suspicious when a 17-year-old came running into her shop. "Are you being chased?" she asked him. "No, I just want a tan," he replied. She showed him to a tanning bed and, once he stripped down to his underwear and got inside, called the police. Pursuing police officers that had lost him in the vicinity of the salon dropped by, identified him as the suspect in a bank robbery, and arrested him. (Reuters) ...Stated desire: deep bronze. Actual result deep doo-doo.

    1. [FOLKLORE FAMILY] JUST TESTING

    3. JUST TESTING Douglas Ryan Oeters stopped by the Humane Society in Boulder, Colo., to adopt a cat. Oeters allegedly tried to pay the $75 adoption fee with $20 bills photocopied onto crumpled yellowing paper. "He pulled out the money, and we both started laughing," says shelter worker Briana Rooney. "We were like 'yeah right'." Since the copies didn't work, Oeters pulled out a real $100 bill to pay the fees, and Rooney stalled him while another employee called police. Oeters told officers that he must have received the bills from the bank when he cashed a check. A search of his wallet found 42 copies of $20 bills -- and the two real bills they were copied from. 1. [FOLKLORE FAMILY] THIS WEEK'S HONORARY UNSUBSCRIBE
    2. Turk McGee
    3. THIS WEEK'S HONORARY UNSUBSCRIBE goes to Babu Chhiri Sherpa. A mountain climber, Babu holds the record for the fastest ascent of Mount Everest. He began climbing as a porter at age 13. Last May, he broke his own speed record climbing Everest, ascending the south face and making it back to the base camp in 16 hours and 56 minutes. He summited Everest 10 times, including four times via the more difficult north side, from Tibet. Babu also holds the record for time spent on the mountain's summit without supplemental oxygen -- 21 hours. He died April 29, falling over 600 feet into a crevasse on the mountain. He was 33.

    3. They can definitely lower your blood pressure. I used to have tanks set up all over the house, both tropical and marine. Sure was peaceful to watch them after a hectic day at the office or traveling. Beta Splendens are nice and easy to keep, being air breathers. Glad someone posted this. 3. I have a 40 gallon tank I've had for maybe 10 -15 years. I bought it after I had spend 3 months at a hospital in Denver with my daughter, she was in a coma, had three cardiac arrests, and I spent alot of hours by their salt water tanks. They helped me keep calm, and I've spent alot of hours just watching my tank when my mind needs to settle down. It is very peaceful to me. I'm now worrying how I'll move my tank when we move to MI this summer. That is still up in the air, I may just give my fish to someone, and move the tank and start all over. Or maybe I'll try finches, or a kitten, but can't seem to want to let go of the fish. Have a great week end. 1. [FOLKLORE FAMILY] Human Resources Helpful Hints
    2. Karie Johnson
    3. HUMAN RESOURCES HELPFUL HINTS Take the prospective employees you are trying to place and put them in a room with only a table and two chairs. Leave them alone for two hours, without any instruction. At the end of that time, go back and see what they are doing. If they have taken the table apart, put them in Engineering. If they are counting the butts in the ashtray, assign them to Finance. If they are waving their arms and talking out loud, send them to Consulting. If they are talking to the chairs, Personnel is a good spot for them. If they are wearing green sunglasses and need a haircut, Computer Information Systems is their niche. If the room has a sweaty odor, perhaps they're destined for the Help Desk. If they mention what a good price we got for the table and chairs, put them into Purchasing. If they mention that hardwood furniture DOES NOT come from rainforests, Public Relations would suit them well. If they are sleeping, they are Management material. If they are writing up the experience, send them to the Technical Documents team. If they don't even look up when you enter the room, assign them to Security. If they try to tell you it's not as bad as it looks, send them to Marketing. If you dont stand for something, you'll fall for anything....... _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/

    3. YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE An extraordinarily handsome man decided he had the God-given responsibility to marry the perfect woman so they could produce children beyond comparison. With that as his mission, he began searching for the perfect woman. After a diligent, but fruitless, search up and down the east coast, he started to head west. Shortly thereafter, he met a farmer who had three stunning, gorgeous daughters that positively took his breath away. So he explained his mission to the farmer, asking for permission to marry one of them. The farmer simply replied, "They're all lookin' to get married, so you came to the right place. Look them over and select the one you want." The man dated the first daughter. The next day the farmer asked for the man's opinion. "Well" said the man, "she's just a weeeeee bit, not that you can hardly notice, but pigeon-toed." The farmer nodded and suggested the man date one of the other girls; so the man went out with the second daughter. The next day, the farmer again asked how things went. "Well," the man replied, "she's just a weeeee bit, not that you can hardly tell, cross-eyed." The farmer nodded and suggested he date the third girl to see if things might be better. So he did. The next morning the man rushed in exclaiming, "She's perfect, just perfect! She's the one I want to marry!" So they were wed right away. Months later, the baby was born. When the man visited the nursery, he was horrified - the baby was the ugliest, most pathetic human you can imagine. He rushed to his father-in-law asking how such a thing could happen, considering the parents. "Well," explained the farmer. "She was just a weeeee bit, not that you could hardly tell, pregnant when you met her." 3. A husband and wife are traveling by car from Key West to Boston. After almost twenty-four hours on the road, they're too tired to continue, and they decide to stop for a rest. They stop at a nice hotel and take a room, but they only plan to sleep for four hours and then get back on the road. When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for $350. The man explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk that although it's a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren't worth $350. When the clerk tells him $350 is the standard rate, the man insists on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appears, listens to the man, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center that were available for the husband and wife to use. "But we didn't use them", the man complains. "Well, they are here, and you could have," explains the Manager. He goes on to explain they could have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous. "The best entertainers from New York, Hollywood and Las Vegas perform here," the Manager says. "But we didn't go to any of those shows," complains the man again. "Well, we have them, and you could have, " the Manager replies. No matter what facility the Manager mentions, the man replies, "But we didn't use it!" The Manager is unmoved, and eventually the man gives up and agrees to pay. He writes a check and gives it to the Manager. The Manager is surprised when he looks at the check. "But sir," he says, "this check is only made out for $100." "That's right," says the man. "I charged you $250 for sleeping with my wife." "But I didn't!" exclaims the Manager. "Well," the man replies, "she was here, and you could have." 3. THE NOTE A man enters his favorite ritzy restaurant, and while sitting at his regular table, he noticed a gorgeous woman sitting at a table nearby, all alone. He calls the waiter over and asks for their most expensive bottle of merlot to be sent over to her, knowing that if she accepts it, she is his. The waiter gets the bottle and quickly sends it over to the girl, saying, "This from the gentleman. She looks at the wine and decides to send a note over to the man. The note reads: "For me to accept this bottle, you need to have a Mercedes in your garage, a million dollars in the bank, and 7 inches in your pants. The man, after reading the note, sends one of his own back to her, and it reads: "Just so you know - I happen to have a Ferrari Testarossa, a BMW 850iL, and a Mercedes 560SEL in my garage; plus I have over twenty million dollars in the bank. But, not even for a woman beautiful as you, would I cut off three inches. Just send the bottle back." 3. ALL IN A DAY'S WORK Mr. Swiller was known far and wide as a hard-nosed boss who watched his employees like a hawk. He was making one of his regular tours of the factory, when he spotted a young man leaning against a pile of boxes, just outside the foreman's office. Since Bud, the foreman, wasn't around, Swiller stood off to the side and watched to see just how long the young man would stand around doing nothing. The young man yawned, scratched his head, looked at his watch, and sat on the floor. He took out a nail file and began cleaning his nails. Then, he stretched, yawned again, and leaned back on the pile of boxes. Swiller stepped from his hiding place and walked up to the young man. "You!" he boomed. "How much do you make a week?" The young man looked up indifferently. "Two hundred and fifty dollars," he said. Swiller swooped into the cashier's office, took $250 from the cash box, and returned. "Take it," he said, "and get out! Don't let me see you around here again!" The young man took the cash, put it in his pocket, and left. Swiller snorted at his lack of remorse, embarrassment, or any other feeling. Then he went looking for Bud. When he found him, Swiller was red with anger. "That idler in front of your office," Swiller said. "I just gave him a week's pay and fired him. What's the matter with you, letting him stand around as though he had nothing to do?" "You mean the kid in the red shirt?" Bud asked. "Yes! The kid in the red shirt!" "He was waiting for the twenty dollars we owe him for lunch," Bud said. "He works for the coffee shop around the corner." "Yes, Nurse Tracey," said Mr. Jones, "My 'little friend' died today, and I am very sad." Knowing her patients were forgetful and sometimes a little crazy, she replied, "Oh I'm so sorry, Mr. Jones. Please accept my condolences." The following day, Mr. Jones was walking down the hall with his 'little friend' hanging out of his pajamas, when he met Nurse Tracey. "Mr. Jones," she said, "You shouldn't be walking down the hall like this, please put your 'friend' back inside your pajamas." "But Nurse Tracey," replied Mr. Jones, "I told you yesterday that it died." "Yes, you did tell me that, but why is it hanging out of your pajamas?" asked Nurse Tracey. "Well," he replied. 3. Space Weather News for May 4, 2001 http://www.spaceweather.com This weekend our planet will pass through a trail of dusty debris from distant Comet Halley, triggering the annual eta Aquarid meteor shower. The nearly-full Moon will reduce the visibility of this year's eta Aquarid shower. Nevertheless, southern observers could spot as many as 10 meteors per hour before local dawn on Saturday and Sunday. Meteor enthusiasts can also try listening to the shower by tuning in to NASA's online meteor radar. For more information please visit http://SpaceWeather.com ---
