Is anyone researching Flynn from Cahir? > Mine were Roman Catholics, specifically John born abt 1795 and wife. I too am researching the Flynn's/Flinn. My maiden name was Flynn. But I am not very well aquainted with Ireland. My 2 x's gr. grandfather's name was Andrew Flinn. I have his birth year as 1816 and I believe he was born in Ireland. He died July 17th, 1890 in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. I have the information that Andrew Flinn's parent's were William Flinn from Waterford (1784-1854) and his wife Margaret. I don't have a maiden name. With not being very well educated on Ireland.......Is Waterford in/near Tipperary?? Andrew's wifes name was Susannah Neagle. Her parent's....my 3 x's gr. grandparent's.....were Francis Neagle (1783-March 7 1863) and Mary Carroll.(1791-July 20 1871). Mary's parent's (my 4 x's gr. grandparent's) names were John Carroll and Elizabeth. I just found John Carroll's Will on line and it states that he was "a native of Whitfield, Ireland and town close to Waterford" and was a long time resident of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. So I am thinking that possibly the Neagle's and Flinn's/Flynn's came from the same town seeing that Andrew's father William was from Waterford. I just thought I would add the names of the Neagle's and the Carroll's. Maybe you have one of them in your line too??? At least with the information on John Carroll's Will I can put a town over in Ireland that that side of the family came from. I was so excited when I found it online. I telephoned St. John's, Newfoundland and they said that for $15.00 they will send me a copy of the original Will and also for $10.00 they will search names to see if there has been a Will left. How exciting is that????? Anyways, just running a few names past you and possibly there just may be a connection. Hope to hear from you . Rae Martin, nee Flynn. Hi, Rae, thanks for your note. I can't see a connection at present, mainly because I still don't know the surname of John Flynn's wife. Tipperary and Waterford are both counties; Waterford being south of Tipperary. see this map- http://flagspot.net/flags/ie(.html very best wishes Lorraine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rae" <sunshine@iaw.on.ca> To: <FLYNN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2004 8:32 PM Subject: Re: [FLYNN]Tipperary > > Sent: Tuesday, November 23, 2004 6:58 PM > Subject: Re: [FLYNN]Tipperary > > Hi Lorraine! > > >> Hello all. Hi Lorraine Just want to say thank you for the Ireland map site. I have bookmarked it and know that it will really be helpful to me when trying to connect cities/towns to counties. Many thanks and good luck with your research on the Flynn's. Rae Martin.
