Hi Pat: I have been following the e-mails back and forth on the "Flynn's". My Flynn's are originally from St. John's, Newfoundland. My grandparent's, James (Jimmy) and Myrtle (nee Reid) Flynn married in Dorchester, Mass.(in 1906) which I believe is close to Boston. Yes???? My grandfather had 9 siblings and from what I understand one or more of the sister's settled in Boston....maybe some of the brother's did too. The names were: Margaret Joseph , Patrick, Mary, John Michael, Catherine, Bridget Mary, Ann, Susannah Mary and Ellen. Their parent's names were (my gr. grandparent's) Thomas and Johanna (nee Lonergan/Lundrigan) Flynn. Some of the names in the baptism's were written under "Fling" and "Flinn/Flynne". Other family name's are Murphy, Neagle/Nagle and possibly Duggan. My grandparent's moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada around 1912, but my father did mention that he visited a cousin once, in Boston, in maybe the 1970's. Do any of these names ring a bell with you or anyone else on board? Thanks for your time. Rae Martin (nee Flynn), Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat" <pattycake@gis.net> To: <FLYNN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 12, 2004 1:08 PM Subject: Re: [FLYNN] Re: flynn family > I was the one who asked you for places of residence, as my Flynn family is > also from MA., but not from Fall River. Hi Rae, Your Flynn names don't ring a bell, at least as far as I got with my research. My gr gr grandfather, Maurice Flynn was born in Ireland and went to Nova Scotia, where he married and had at least 3 boys, Frederick, William and Charles, who all came to Boston. They lived in South Boston. Dorchester is part of Boston. Boston has several neighborhoods and Dorchester and South Boston are just 2 of them and are located next to each other. Some of my Flynns lived in Dorchester for a while too. Maybe my family knew your family. Do you know where they lived in Dorchester? Anyway, I haven't been able to find Mary's maiden name. (Maurice's wife) or the maiden name of the Elizabeth that William married. Charles and Frederick were married to Sanford sisters, Eunice and Esther. Are any of these names familiar to you -- or to anyone else out there? Maybe Maurice had other children that I'm not aware of. This is a brick wall for me. Dear Pat, I have included my original e-mail from me as well as your most-welcomed reply. I apologize for not replying sooner. Our son got married on Feb. 14 and a lot of things got put on hold. Gradually, now, I am getting back into the swing of things. You have mentioned that some of your ancestor's lived in Boston and that Dorchester is part of South Boston. Some addresses I have are 30 Sudan Street, Dorchester, the post mark on these are around 1906; also 28 Sudan Street. This one was in care of a "Mrs. Howe" so my grandfather James Flynn was probably boarding there. I have another one in 1907 Boston Terminal, Gas Plant South Station, Boston; In 1908 the address is 32 Clapp Place, Dorchester; 77 Bartlett Street, Charlestown, Mass; Another one post marked 1911 was 59 Rose Clair Street, Dorchester. I'll search for more addresses but if you would be able to tell me what area the above would fall in according to census, I'd really appreciate it. I found a website for the voter's list back in the 1900's for Boston but there were so many different locations in Boston itself that I was in a state of not knowing anything! Many thanks for your help and again apologize for the long delay in replying. Sincerely, Rae Martin Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat" <pattycake@gis.net> To: <FLYNN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 15, 2004 11:14 PM Subject: Re: [FLYNN] Re: Flynn/Lonergan (Lundrigan)/Murphy/Neagle (Nagle) > Hi Rae, > Your Flynn names don't ring a bell, at least as far as I got with my > research.
