I found William and Ruth E. Flynn in the 1880 Census for the Village of Morrice, Shiawassee Co., MI. William's occupation was listed as a Cabinet Maker. William was born, as were his parents, in Ireland and Ruth E. was born in MI and her parents were in NY. I also found a listing for William Flynn in the Passenger and Immigration Index, 1500's-1900's for Michigan as follows: Place: Michigan Year: 1879 Primary Immigrant: Flynn, William Permanent entry number: 1232156 Source publication code: 6013.60 Source publication page number: 18 Source publication: NATURALIZATION RECORDS OF SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN, 1854-1906. Owosso, Mich.: Shiawassee County Genealigical Society, 1983, Unpaginated [59p]. Source annotation: Page numbers added by indexers. I bet you found Ruth's parents, William and Betsy in the 1870 census for Locke, MI, along with her siblings. If not, I printed out a copy of that census. Now,, just to throw something more into the mix, there was a William Flynn listed in the 1870 census for Bennington, Shiawassee Co., MI that was married to a Mary, also born in Ireland, and three children: John, Anna and William. Could there be an outside chance that Ruth might have been Williams's second wife? Just a thought. My Flynn's came from Counties Mayo and Sligo. They settled, at least the ones I have been able to find, in Watertown, NY and Omaha, NE. My interest in the name William is that my gr uncle was named William Henry and my uncle was named William Joseph. William Henry was the first time I had seen the name William in the family and figured it had to have come down through the generations. As I have some large gaps between births of my gr uncle Patrick (b 1815), gr uncle James (b 1819), gr aunt Mary Ann(e) (b 1820) and my grandfather Thomas (b 1832), there might be a William in there somewhere. The parents of this group were John Flynn and Mary Finnegan, who were born and died in Sligo. Hope I haven't bored you but I live in hope of filling in my Flynn missing pieces. Best Regards, Kathy Flynn Simons California
