    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: FITZGERALD/FLYNN/HIGGINS/CARROLL/FITZPATRICK Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/4dW.2ACEB/1396 Message Board Post: Researching and need connections to other researchers for name of FITZGERALD found in Decatur, Bement, and Chicago, Illinois from mid 1800s. The Chicago Fitzgerald, Mary, connects to the CARROLL (Chicago) and FITZPATRICK (Decatur) surnames. There are several Fitzgerald families - may or may not be connected - in the Clinton and Decatur area (all seemed to be connected to the railroad in some way). There were several in the Bement area that were farmers. Don't know how they all connect or if. Also a CARROLL in Edwardsville, Illinois who married Mary C FLYNN in the mid to late 1800s.

    1. [FLYNN] REGISTRY FOR WWII MEMORIAL
    2. Hi Everyone, There is a new WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. which is to be dedicated on May 29, 2004. You can search the site and also enter someone that served in WWII there. Will send you the URL and hyperlink for the site. My husband just entered his Uncle Jack and it was apparently very easy to do. Basically you only need the person's name, branch of service and hometown. If you have the area in which they served you can also enter that. The questions asked were: First Name; Last Name; Full Name; Status (WWII Veteran); Branch of Service; Rank; Honored by; Relationship to Honoree; U.S. State/Territory (Where lived or enlisted); Activity during WWII. Thought perhaps some of you had parents or other family members that you would like to see honored. Thanks for taking time to read this, Gretchen FLYNN http://www.wwiimemorial.com/ National WWII Memorial

Yes, this is the same person. My Tilghman was the son of Susanna Yehl & Thomas Eisenhard. I understand that Flossie married a Schantzenbach in and around the Spring Creek area of Lower Macungie. In fact, I do believe I know the great 2x grandson of this Annie. I do believe that this is the family of a Schantzenbach that I went to school with at Emmaus High. If I remember correctly his name was Barry---sort of tall and very thin. Didn't know it at that time that the family connection was there.

    1. [FLYNN] William Tifis Flinn-Arkansas-married Laura Metcalf
    2. Looking for some help on WILLIAM TIFIS FLINN//FLYNN b in 1865 in Arkansas and married LAURA METCALF (dau of WILLIAM W. METCALF) abt 1888. Children to this marriage are: 1. ADA----b 1889 in AR 2. WILLIAM BOYD----b 1890 in AR 3. OTHIE-----b 1892 in AR 4. JESSE EDGAR----b 1894 in AR 5. RENIA MARY----b 1895 in AR 6. ELZIA----b 1896 in AR 7. EARTICE(?)----b 1898 in AR 8. & 9. TWINS----b 1900 in AR 10. LILLY BEATRICE----b 1902 in AR 11. JOHNNIE VIOLET----b 1904 in AR 12. ROLAND JOSEPH----b 1907 in AR 13. OBIE EDGAR----b 1908 in TX 14. TIFIS WILLIAM---- b 1910 in TX 15. LAURA PLASEDE---- b 1913 in TX. I list the children to see if they follow any other family names. WILLIAM TIFIS FLINN/FLYNN married and lived in Independence Co, Woodruff Co. He also lived in Batesville. He may have lived, as a child, with a family with the last name of DUNLAP/DUNLOP. His mother's name possibly was RENIA OR MARY SCOGGINS. The census', 1900,1910,1920 show he was born in Arkansas, but may have been born in Cut Throat, MO. Family stories have been told that the Metcalfs did not like him because he was smaller than them and tried to tell him how to do things. His daugther Renia told the story that "When I was 14yrs old we left Arkansas in the middle of the night, because grandpa Metcalf would have killed daddy if he knew we were leaving." That is when they moved to Hill County, Texas. Between 1920 and 1923 is when WILLIAM died in Milam Co, Texas. A Harry Metcalf had come to visit and after eating supper William began foaming at the mouth and died later that night. William's older children believed he had been poisoned. It is said that he was called "Doc" sometimes, for treating horses. Could my WILLIAM TIFIS FLINN be connected to Jesse W. Flinn or William Tivis Flinn and his family. We cannot find a death certificate(family members say he is buried in String Prairie Methodist Cemetery,in Milam Co, Tx, but there is no marker), a birth certificate and we cannot find him in any census before 1900. I am hoping the stories or something might ring a bell with someone. Sorry to write a book, but my head hurts from banging it against this brick wall. Thank you for listening. Pattie Reeves

    1. [FLYNN] ADMIN MSG - Rootsweb update
    2. Pat Connors
    3. This is on today's Help Desk: Mail Lists: 2004-02-15 AOL rejecting RootsWeb mailing lists email AOL is again rejecting some or all of RootsWeb's mailing list email. The block is imposed by AOL and can only be removed by AOL. RootsWeb will be contacting AOL to discuss this matter though the likelihood is that the matter will take a few days to resolve. Est. downtime: 1 week(s) This problem started yesterday so not too many AOLers have been dropped so far. If you have an AOL account and you notice you are not getting mail from a list, check the list's archives to see if you are actually missing mail and to catch up on what is being posted. Don't try to resub to the list until the problem is resolved. Another problem, I have encountered since Friday is that some of the Rootsweb pages are intermittently inaccessible. We have discussed it in the Listowners mailing list but no explanation has been given to date. This morning I can't get into some of my list's utilites...Over the weekend I had trouble getting into some of the Rootsweb hosted websites. Yesterday, some normal mail to the lists were blocked by an overly aggressive Rootsweb spam blocker. I checked all my lists and found some legitimate mail and unblocked it. So, if you sent a message to a list, and a day later it posted, now you know why. If you posted a message that did not go to the list, email me off list and I'll look again. If you are experiencing any problems, please feel free to email me off list and I will do my best to help you. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, listowner http://www.connorsgenealogy.com Professional Genealogy Research All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton 2002
