    3. Remember if you are using an automatic reply of any kind when you are out of the office/home, unsub from your lists, or set it so it won't go to the lists and any of the listers. Thanks and have a safe weekend holiday. Just so you know, if I receive one, or one goes to the list, I put the subber on the 'reject' list where they stay subscribed to the list but can no long post messages to the list, until they assure me that they have adjusted their auto reply program, same goes for automatic mail from anti-spam programs. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA, list admin http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton

    3. > > >How do I find out this information for the name O'Flynn ? > The Griffiths Valuation, a property assessment of all properties in Ireland, took place during the years 1848 to 1864. They began in the south of Ireland and ended in Ulster. It lists all the lessors (not the same as the owner) and lessees (occupiers) of all property in the country. It is the primary 19th century reference in which the poor are likely to be found since none of the censuses of the era survived the Ireland civil war. I recently transcribed the GV for Tipperary Civil Parish, County Tipperary and you can view a page of the transcription to get an idea of the information that you get from the GV: http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/tipp/TippGV-D.htm This is the page with the Flinn/Flynns, rarely is the name O'Flynn in the GV. Please note, only head of household is listed in this resource. There are a number of ways to access the GV. It is completely filmed by the LDS Family History Library and listed by county, barony, poor law unions and civil parishes. So if you have a townland name, you need to know the other land divisions to find the film number. You can do so by putting the townland name in the search engine at: http://www.seanruad.com There are two on-line subscription programs with very good indexes. They have the actual GV printed pages where you can save them or print them: Otherdays.com, and Origins.net I highly recommend both programs. They are reasonably priced. There is also a GV index on cd that can be bought on line at many URLs including Ancestry.com. However, be aware of this CD. I have found many errors, especially in County Tipperary. For example, the civil parish that I just transcribed had only three surnames on the cd that started with a letter in the alphabet before M...there should have been almost 1,000! -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com All outgoing mail virus free, scanned by Norton

This is going to be confusing... I have an obit for their daughter,Annie Mary Flynn Hampson. She was born in April 1851 in Ithaca NY. She died in Feb.1915 in Punxsutawney PA. Her obit states that her father,E.Flynn,3 unnamed brothers and 1 sister survived her. E.Flynn is listed as living "near Ithaca NY". I have a copy of her death certifacate that lists her fathers name as Patrick Flynn. Its very possible that the obit (E.Flynn) was a typo,E and P,sound alot alike. I also have 1 of Annie Mary Flynn Hampsons' diaries. In 1899,it mentions something about her mothers house in Bradford county PA. which was located on Elizabeth Street. I don't know the exact name of the town. I've been searching thru the census records trying to locate this street in Bradford cty.without any luck. If you don't know whether or not you are subscribed to a mailing list, go to Password Central: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Put your email address in the box and then check off, under Mailing Lists: To which lists am I subscribed? 3. Go to www.glorecords.blm.gov and type in just the last name for all states. This is a Government Land Office Records site and you will find out exactly where they homesteaded. Then you can send for their records that they filed to get this homestead, and you can also look them up in the census because you will know almost exactly where to look, and in what year.
