I'm not Rick and he may also have this information, but in "Biographical Rosters of Florida's Confederate and Union Soldiers 1861-1865" by Hartman and Coles: First Florida Cavalry, Company E, Privates: Bryan, Benjamin R. (b. 3/21/45 Wayne Co. NC; m. Emma J. Gillyard 12/8/97; d 9/22/1923 Bradford Co.) lived in Bradford Co.and enlisted 11/14/61 in White Spring. He was present on the last roll and was hospitalized in Macon in mid 1864. He returned to duty 10/2/54 and was paroled in Thomasville GA 5/16/65. He was 5'5", light hair, blue eyes, fair skin. From "Register of Florida CSA Pension Applications" by Virgil White #A02478 Bryan, B. R., 1st Reg Cav, Emma (Gillyard), Bradford Co, 1909, 18 pgs. The National Arichives has very little on the confederate soldiers. This information must be obtained from the state where they served or the state where they obtained their pension. You can order both the Service Record and the Pension File from the FL State Archives in Tallahassee for a nominal fee. The information regarding his personal appearance, I believe, appears in the Service Record. Leslie, If you don't mind, could you please check and see if there is a listing for either a Joe Davis or Joel Davis. His first marriage was to Narcisscus Holmes. I haven't been able to find him anywhere as a Confederate. He possibly died during the war. I'm afraid he might have been a Yankee! ;-) Sounds like an interesting set of books. Where did you get them? Thanks again!
