Hi Sherri, The surname Peterson does not appear for the Union or Confederate Army. The paragraph referring to the list of names reads as follows: "The following list is a listing of Suwannee County soldiers who served in the wars listed in the headings (Union and Confederate Army). They were all buried in Suwannee County. The list includes the name of the soldier and the date of birth." I'm not certain this list contains the names of soldiers killed in action and buried elsewhere. You may already have the following information but thought I would pass it on just in case you did not. His name in the 1859 Tax list. He is listed as an appraiser in April of 1863 on page 75 and also on page 71. He lived in New Boston district in the 1867-1868 voter Registration List Page 48 and is shown in the Mineral springs Precinct of then Columbia County (is in present day Suwannee County) 1845 voter list (p. 42). On page 41, he is listed as a land owner in 1853 in Suwannee County.
