Hi, I would love to have the picture when you get it. My grandmother and grandfather went to that church and I would love to see if they were in it. Dr. O. Fred Green and Leila his wife. She was a great friend of Judge Adams wife. Selma
If I can ever figure out how to scan the picture and send it, I will send it to you. I have been trying with no luck for sometime. When it asks for the file name, I give it and it just says that there is no such file. Ugh frustrating. There is a picture in "Lafayette County History and Heritage" that shows a 1924 picture of the Mayo Methodist Church Sunday School and there is a Mrs. Sidney Adans in it. The Geiger and Harts were my relatives in that picture. My grandmother Mattie Hart and aunt Lucile Hart lived just south of the preacher's house. There is a street between now called Hart Street and the house was bought by the Baptist church for Sunday School classes after they died and now the house has been torn down. The P.O. was built directly across the highway from grandmother's house. I lived with her for a year and graduated from Mayo High School in 1939. Send me your snail mail address and I will mail you a copy of the picture. I, too would be interested in seeing this postcard. My grandparents and their families were from Mayo and part of my childhood was spent there. I have an old picture in front of the Methodist Church in Mayo of a large group of members, including my grandparents Sidney and Marietta (Clark) Adams. Judge Hal W. Adams is in the picture (no relation to my Adams) . I do not have a scanner, but have made Xerox copies of the picture and would be more than happy to send anyone who is interested a copy via postal mail. I really would like some help in identifying the people in the picture. Sorry did not mean to take so much time. Allene in Jacksonville, Florida.
I have several pages of history regarding the McLeod Family which came from Scoctland to Stewart County Ga. and then on the Suwannee County around 1860-1865. Sharon, noticing your Wright surname. My wife's grandparents, Robert Earnest and Sallie "Gertie" (Cushman) Wright lived at Wellborn, Suwannee Co, FL for many year from 1915 until they died and reared a large family of Wrights. Are you one of those? Let me hear. My wife was Jeanette Cheshire, and she went to school in Wellborn as a young girl, then moved to Gainesville, FL. S. Maurice McAllister Hello Maurice, No, My husband's WRIGHTs are all from Autauga County, Alabama area, a few in Chilton County, and according to Census from there...they were out of South Carolina. If any of the WRIGHTs in Suwannee are his, we haven't discovered it yet. I won't say it isn't possible though. Because my direct line of DRIVERs moved into Suwannee out of Georgia being originally from the Carolinas...and part of them which are not my "direct" line also went to Alabama, and would you believe Chilton and Autauga Counties same as Billy's WRIGHTs did?! I was born in Live Oak, as was my mother. She was a ROBINSON. Some of my other Suwannee County surnames besides DRIVER are ROBINSON, PARKER, LAMB, SULLIVAN...just for a few. Sharon Driver Wright
