All I know is my maternal grandmother, Gertrude Scott, of Lake City, SC, was first married to Robert Flowers (I am pretty sure he was also from Lake City). His whole name was Robert Marian Flowers. I believe my grandmother's whole name was Marion Gertrude Scott. They had one daughter, also named Marion Gertrude. Robert died around 1900-01 and is buried in the Lake City area but I don't believe there is a marker on his grave. What I have learned about him comes from Marion's daughters. Marion Flowers married a man named William Hanna and they spent all their married life in Florence, SC. They are buried in Florence, also. Of their 6 or 7 children, three daughters, Valerie, Jackie and Talullah are still living. If you think this family ties into your Flowers family, I have phone numbers where these granddaughters of Robert Flowers can be reached. Virginia Allison Adams
Hi, A Flowers interest could be discussed with: Lauretta Flowers Hogan in Wellborn, FL. She is not on the "net" however I will be happy to forward any queries to her. She is into genealogy. Burt

No, Lillian Adams isn't part of my family. I married an Adams from Kosciusko, Mississippi and we live in Jackson now. His family has been well researched and there is no Lillian. I am not familiar with Harry Gaskins. It seems there might have been a cousin named Harry who lived in South Carolina but I have no information on him. Most of the Gaskins I am related to were in SC....Lake City, Georgetown, Hemingway, Florence, etc. My granddad was the only one who made his way to Florida just after the turn of the century (that sounds odd since we have just had another one of those!) My grandmother, Gertrude Scott, first married a Robert Flowers who died quite young of Influenza, I believe...this would have been around 1900-1901. They had one child, Marion, who was born in 1900. A year or two later, Gertrude married A(rlington) D(illon) Gaskins, son of Judge John Henry Vinson Gaskins & Nancy Ann Rogers Gaskins, of Lake City, SC. and the family moved to Live Oak, Florida where two more children were born...a son, Clyde Allen, around 1905 or '06 and Mary Frances (my mother) in 1909. Gertrude's long hair caught on fire as she stood near a fireplace, causing fatal burns around 1911-1912. Aunt Marion was taken back to South Carolina where she was raised by her maternal grandparents and later by her late father's sister after the death of their mother. My mother and her brother remained in Florida with their dad after their mother's death. A. D. Gaskins remarried shortly thereafter. The second wife was Virginia Isabella Creekmore of Live Oak, Suwannee County, FL. Virginia Allison Adams
there is a Lake City S.C. also, Located in Florence County

I would like to know if any of our members knows anything about A. D. Gaskins who is mentioned in the Suwannee County History (he was one of the first to introduce tobacco to Suwannee County after the Boll Weevil had destroyed the cotton crop. My interest in him is, he is my maternal grandfather, and for most of my life, I have been searching for ANYTHING on his first wife, Gertrude Scott Flowers Gaskins, who died of burns around 1911 or 1912. They were both natives of South Carolina (most likely Lake City) and were living in Suwannee County (probably in Live Oak) at the time of her death and I would love to find something regarding her untimely death. In the 1920 Suawanne Co,FL census, there is listed a Charlie Wheeler and his family. With the family is listed: Tom Jewell,servant,white,16 and Loviean Jewell, servant, white, age 52. I am hoping that descendants of this Charlie Wheeler might know something about these servants. Any info on the Wheeler Family and servants would be helpful. Thanks, Mary -- MLewis9749@aol.com

Posted on: Suwannee Co. Fl Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Suwannee/563 Surname: NELSON, TUTEN ------------------------- I am searching for any descendants of William (Bill) Nelson. He was born in the 1875-1880 range in Suwannee or Columbia Co. He was allegedly the son of William Robert Tuten of Hamilton Co. and (I assume) Unknown Nelson. He was living with William RObert Tuten in the 1880 census in Hamilton Co. but I have found no record of him after that. I am told he died in the 1930's or 40's in Suwannee or Coumbia Co. but I have been unable to find a death certificate or cemetery listing. Any help greatly appreciated.

Nice idea - but I never knew of any Lees in Lee, FL, and I have cataloged pretty much every cemetery in the area. Tradition is that Lee was named for Robert E. Lee, but that's debatable. Anyway - no Lees in Lee. Elaine Wellhoner McCreary mccreary@bestnetpc.com ----- Original Message ----- From: S.M.
