Charlene, Mary V. (Ellis) Cheshire is the only Mary buried in Mt. Pleasant Cem. Her marker reads "Mary V Cheshire." It is about 1 ft wide and 18" long. Her husband is not buried there. He died in Ocala area and is supposedly buried at Friendship Bap Church west of Ocala. Her son, David Quincy Cheshire and his wife (my wife's grandparents) are buried next to the eastside fence. Her other grandparents (Wrights) and her parents (Leonard P and Carrie Earleeth (Wright) Cheshire are buried in the Wellborn City Cem. If you need Cheshire genealogy, I probably can help you, perhaps exchange some. Let me hear. Thanks for your reply to my original query. I live in North Alabama at Hartselle. S. M. 16 May 2001 Hello list, I am searching for more information on John William Grantham. I show he was born 1836 in SC. He is listed in Voter registration records in Live Oak in 1867 and in the same county census in 1870. I believe he married Lavina (spelled several ways: Lavinia, Vinnie, etc.) Nov. 20, 1868 in Suwannee County. That is all I have been able to find on him. I have a hunch that on page 53 of "Discovering Genealogical Roots in Suwannee County, FL", under the listing for Caroway, Lucretia, Lavina is listed as a daughter, Biney Grantham. Lavina died Feb. 12, 1899 and is buried in Hamilton County at Hamilton Cemetery. She had two children known to me: Theodore Wayne, Born Sept. 2, 1856 in SC and Liza Elizabeth, Born 1851in Suwannee County, FL. Anyone have any ideas or perhaps access to a later census that shows John & Lavina? Anything is appreciated as I have definitely hit a rock! Thank you, Deborah Jacobs Riner islandatoll@yahoo.com Researching: Putnal, Jacobs, Cornelius, Johnson, Grantham, of North Florida

I came across this today and thought it might be of interest to someone on the list....Winnette Louise Wiggins, 84, Homemaker Monday, April 30, 2001 LAKELAND -- Mrs. Louise Poucher Wiggins worked only two days of her life at a canning plant. That is, she only worked two days of her life to earn an income. The rest of her life she worked to help people who couldn't help themselves, and she didn't earn a dime. Until she became too sick to do so, Mrs. Wiggins would make sure the health of her neighbors, friends and family was in good order. "She took people to the doctor all the time. She was a neighbor to everyone and always there to help all the people who needed it," said her niece, Linda Starling of Lakeland. "She would go to Watson Clinic and spend hours or half a day with them." The Lakeland resident died Sunday (April 29, 2001) at Bartow Memorial Hospital with complications resulting from hip surgery. She was 84. Mrs. Wiggins was born in Live Oak on May 6, 1916, and grew up on a farm near the Suwannee River. After she met her husband and they dated for one year, they were married and moved to Lakeland. She and her husband were married for 61 years, an accomplishment Starling said marriages today rarely achieve. "Her stability was something you don't see today, and their commitment to each other is not seen today," Starling said. Starling said Mrs. Wiggins, a lifetime homemaker, was fulfilled by that role. "I admired her faithfulness to her home and her marriage," Starling said. "She was an old-fashioned homemaker." Starling said her aunt was a wonderful cook and named cracklin' cornbread and greens as her favorite dishes her aunt prepared. Most of the dishes Mrs. Wiggins prepared were made from fruits and vegetables she also grew herself. In her garden, she spent many hours tending to potatoes, squash, string beans, okra and tomatoes. "She came from the farm," Starling said to explain her aunt's self-efficient way of life. Mrs. Wiggins attended First Community Church in Highland City. In addition to her niece, she is survived by her husband, R.C. Wiggins; brothers, George Poucher and Billy Poucher, both of Live Oak; sisters, Mattie Curl, McAlpin, and Faye Cooper, Jensen Beach. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at A.M. Seigler Funeral Home in Mulberry. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

While filing away some old photographs today, I ran across one of me and my sister when we were visiting our grandfather, A. D. Gaskins, in Live Oak, Florida. In this particular picture, along with us, is a girl identified as Teresa Haddock, who lived in Live Oak. Apparently she came down to play with my sister, Joanne Allison, when we visited. They appear to be about the same age. This picture was taken around 1941. Do any of you know who she might be? I would be glad to share this picture with her or her family, if they can be found. Dear Mike Jones, In response to your inquiry on William (Bill) Nelson of Suwannee County, FL I wish to ask you if you have any info on other Nelsons - namely, Rev. Allen Cicero Nelson, b. Feb 1852 in GA to a G. G. Nelson. Rev. A. C. Nelson was my wife's great grandfather who was ordained at Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Wellborn, FL. His wife was Nancy Elizabeth Bedenbaugh, b. Sep 1852 in Macon Co, GA to Rev. Simeon Wilson Bedenbaugh, a missionary for the Lutheran Church and founder of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Columbia County, FL on Hwy 441 near Ellisville Community just off I-75. We have Rev. A. C. Nelson's original handwritten ordination at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. A. C. & Nancy's children were: 1. Dora, b. 1873 GA 2. Howard, b. 3 Mar 1875 GA 3. Mary Catherine "Cassie", b. 3 Mar 1877 who married William Steven Edward Thompson, Sr on 30 Jun 1895 at Live Oak, Suwannee Co, FL 4. Lawrence Wilson, b. 27 Dec 1879 5. Allen A., b. Oct 1881 6. Ida Lennie, b. 10 Apr 1888 7. Levi, b. Oct 1891 Hopefully, we can exchange Nelson data as we have very little on that line. Please let me hear. I do not find any Tuten information in my research.

Rev. Allen Cicero Nelson married Nancy Elizabeth Bedenbaugh in 1872. He was son of G. G. Nelson, probably of GA. She was daughter of Simeon Wilson Bedenbaugh and Margaret Elizabeth (Kinard) Bedenbaugh. Rev. S. W. Bedenbaugh was an early pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church located near Ellisville on Hwy 441 in Columbia County. Their granddaughter, Ida Lennie Nelson married David Quincy Cheshire 12 Oct 1905 in Columbia County. Her father was Rev. Allen Cicero Nelson, who was ordained as a Freewill Baptist Minister at Mt. Posted on: Suwannee Co. Fl Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/Suwannee/10581 Surname: NELSON, TUTEN ------------------------- I am looking for the descendants of William (Bill) Nelson who, according to family legend was the illegitimate son of William Robert Tuten of Hamilton Co. and Unknown Nelson who I think was from Suwannee Co.. Bill was born in the late 1870's and for a while (1880 census) was living with his father and his wife, Frances Tabitha Williams. He was not living with them according to the 1885 state census. Bill died in the late 1930's or 1940's and had at least two children. He was in contact with the Tuten clan in the 1930's when he arranged to have them literally dig up his money and give it to his children after his death. I would like to correspond with anyone who may have information on Bill and his descendants and ultimately establish contact with his descendants. Would also like to find a date of death and a death certificate for Bill.
I am looking for some information. Any would be such a help as I have nothing. I am looking for anything on my Grandfather on my father's side. My fathers name was Arthur Burbank Rawls who at one time lived in Live Oak Florida along with my Grandmother, Bessie Vyhnalek Rawls. She had lived at the Advent Christian Home, Dowling Park. She started working there and then later was a resident. She passed away in June, 1989 in Live Oak. My fathers name was Joe M Rawls and I understand that he passed away in or around 1934-1937 in Florida. I am quieting that it was in or around this general area that he passed away. I did hear something briefly that maybe at one time he was a police man and was injured in the line of duty and may have died from the remainder of being shot. Like I said I know nothing so if anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it as my father was an only child and he passed away in 1986.
