Hi Marsha, This is a somewhat educated guess. Albert Peterson who voted in the New Boston district in 1867-1868 homesteaded land E½NW 8/ 6-S 14-E No TALLAHASSEE FL SUWANNEE Co. in 1859. Section 8 of Township 6, Range 14 is just North of Branford and South of Obrien. Closer to Branford. Louise, Does this include "Munnerlyn's Cow Cavalry"? My hreat grandfather John Robert Gill was in this unit. Doris Albritton Smith
Leslie, If you don't mind, could you please check and see if there is a listing for either a Joe Davis or Joel Davis. His first marriage was to Narcisscus Holmes. I haven't been able to find him anywhere as a Confederate. He possibly died during the war. I'm afraid he might have been a Yankee! ;-) Sounds like an interesting set of books. Where did you get them? Thanks again! There is nothing in the book you don't already have but here it is: Bell, Greenberry (b. 1842) enlisted 5/13/62 at Marianna. He was absent sick since October 1862 and dropped after 6/30/64. He died sometine during the war and was buried in Stonewall Cemetery, Winchester, VA. She did not receive a pension. Leslie -----Original Message----- From: S.M. Leslie and Rick, Thank you both for the lookup and the info. Benjamin Bryan was b. 22 May 1822 d.8 June 1894. He was from Bladen Co., NC and ided in Wellborn and is buried at the Lawton Bryan Cemetery in Wellborn, which I just located this past year, terribly overgrown and in very bad shape. I had to trek thru undergrowth typical of that part of the region, to fibd his headstone. (leaning on a tree). Anyway Rick, the Benjamin that you mention may be the correct one, since the birth year is the same (?) Leslie I know that the Benjamin that you mentioned is not him. Rick, where did you gt this from, was it from the Hartman and Cole's also? I guess I need to send the forms to Tallahassee and check with them to see if they have anything. Thank you all so very much for the look-up. Let me know if I can be of any help anytime. Charlene
Thanks Leslie but now I'm more confused which is typical for me. My Aman/Amon Barnes was born in 1836 so 1837 is probably ok for birth date but I found a website at http://www.psy.fsu.edu/~thompson/cw/1-fl-cav/1-fl-cav-a.html that shows different information. Let me know what you think. Hi Sherri, The surname Peterson does not appear for the Union or Confederate Army. The paragraph referring to the list of names reads as follows: "The following list is a listing of Suwannee County soldiers who served in the wars listed in the headings (Union and Confederate Army). They were all buried in Suwannee County. The list includes the name of the soldier and the date of birth." I'm not certain this list contains the names of soldiers killed in action and buried elsewhere. You may already have the following information but thought I would pass it on just in case you did not. His name in the 1859 Tax list. He is listed as an appraiser in April of 1863 on page 75 and also on page 71. He lived in New Boston district in the 1867-1868 voter Registration List Page 48 and is shown in the Mineral springs Precinct of then Columbia County (is in present day Suwannee County) 1845 voter list (p. 42). On page 41, he is listed as a land owner in 1853 in Suwannee County.
