I don't think so. The listings are by companys and I looked for John Robert Gill in each of those and did not see his name. Was that the unit that was in the Manatee County area? My grandfather, William Charles Hawkins was from Manatee County and raised cattle prior to going to war and after. Thanks Rick. I am also descended from the Petersons through Annie Webb Hewitt - her mother was a Peterson. Well, looks like your guy but I can't say for sure. I am going to send you the e-mail address off the list of David Hartman one of the authors. He is still gathering information on these people. I do not know if he maintains copies of the records they used for research or not, mostly from the FL State Archives and WPA records, and information supplied by family members, but if he does he can tell yo where it came from. Or, perhaps he has some additional information since the books were printed. Leslie >Thanks Leslie but now I'm more confused which is typical for me. Hi everyone, in my rush to tell you all about the chat room. I forgot to say how to get to it. Thanks to all who reminded me. ;) You can get ot the chat room by either going to the home page and click in the chat room link (Yellow box that say chat room) or go directly to the log in page located here: http://mercury.beseen.com/chat/rooms/z/20567/ You will have to sign up to use the chat room, its free and then go back to the login page to log into the chat room. If this chat room is found to be too hard to use or gives us too much trouble I will get rid of it and try to find another that we can use. If any one know of a better chatroom or a better place to chat let me know. I'll check it out. I think we could have alot of fun and be able to help each other by having a chat room. Let me know what you all think. Take care. Leslie can they still be bought? And if so where? and how much. Kay
Don't y'all forget that there was a Union cavalry unit know as the First Cav. Many of the men were from current day Suwannee, Perry, Dixie etc. counties. Not promoting the Yankee army, just stating fact. Brad Brannan ====================== So true Brad, and sad to say that if not for a number of "my" ancestors that 2nd Florida Cavalry, US might'a been a mite weaker. ;-) My Brannan line runs like this: Thomas Brannen, Robert H. Brannan, Mercy Ann Brannan [Joe Burval lists her as Anna Mercy, but my Aunt Betty says it was Mercy Ann, and she might spank me if I go agin her, she helped raise me <VBG>] Mercy Ann married John Stafford Parker their son Robert Franklin Parker married Georgia Rosetta Tison their daughter Annie Elizabeth Parker was my mother's mother. Sharon
Sherry, You will have to tell us how to get there and such. And will surely give it a try. Kay
Elona - He doesn't appear and this series covers both Union and Confederate. The only thing close is a Joseph born 1847 AL, no wife listed, got his pension in Santa Rosa Co. Do you by any chance have a middle initial? There are J.J., J.L. and J.W. Davis. Only JJ received a pension and no wife listed. Usually the series is found in libraries - it was $400., I think, from Broadfoot Printing Co. I get information a couple of times a year from them if you are interested :) Leslie Subject: Re: [FLSUWANN] Suwannee Co.
