Carolyn, Who was the wife of your William B. Williams? I have that name in my database married to America Hicks. Is this the one? Linda CUMPEL@aol.com wrote: > I know that William B. I am trying to verify that a Samuel H. Williams born in 1835-37 married to Elizabeth Webb was the father of William Williams who is my ggf. but I don't know how to do that. carolyn
I don't think so...but thanks....William Would have been born before that time period...1860. appreciate your help.
That much I know is correct....my gf. John Henry W. came from William B. that much I know is correct. I have been told that Samuel H. was killed in cw. but can't prove that.
I don't think so...I feel pretty sure that he was from the Ga. and the name Samuel seems prominent at the cemetary plots....thanks. though. and Maidson Cty, Live Oak and the Lee area are pretty definite. thanks.
I know that William B. Williams is my ggf. and that John Henry Williams is my gf. both are in the Midway Baptist Cemetary....I can't get beyond that to know who my gggf. would be....I have been given a Samuel H. Williams which came from Ga. and was killled in the cvw. I just need to verify that someway....He was born between 1838-1837. Supposedly married Elizabeth Webb and they had two children before he went to war....Williams Williams and Ellen Elizabeth Williams. That is where I am in this quest....I know that there are about 3 sets of Williams in Madison census of 1850...just can't put my ggf. with the right set. Any help you can give would be appreciated. thanks. Carolyn
Carolyn, This is Linda in Atlanta. I have two John Henry Williams from the Lee area, but neither has a father named Samuel. One was born in 1899 and married Rubye Catherine Coffee. They had a son named John Henry who married Doris Cleo Harris and Mattie Lou Beverly. Any connection? I still have lots of relatives in Lee. They tell me there are two distinct Williams clans in Lee, known as the "Methodist Williams" and the "Primitive Baptist Williams." Mine are the latter. Let me know if we have a connection. Sharon, the listing of Midway Baptist Cem on the net was done in 1985 and updated 1988...try checking it out under Madison County Cemetaries.....It may be of help to you in your quest.. I too am trying to find out my ggf Samuel B. Williams. My gf. was John Henry Williams from Mad. Cty. he lived as a farmer in the Lee section. Carolyn ========================= Carolyn, Thank you very much. I have seen the cemetery listings for Madison County, in the past...I do need to recheck them, you are right. Thanks for reminding me. The Midway Baptist Church Cemetery where many of my DRIVERs, BYRDs, STARLINGs and others are buried is located in Lafayette County, Florida. Most of my paternal ancestors are buried in Lafayette County, then my maternal ancestors are mostly buried in Suwannee County, Florida...Lots at Rocky Sink Baptist Church Cemetery, and Orange Baptist Cemetery too. Of course not all in Suwannee, but many. Thanks for your response. Nice to see our FLSUWANN List so active. Sharon
That would be William B. Williams 7 Sep 1860 - 14 Jul 1929 America H. Williams 5 June 1856 - 3 Dec 1928 both buried at Midway Baptist Cemetery in Madison County south of Lee. ----- Original Message ----- From: Mike & Tammy <mikej1957@mindspring.com> To: <FLSUWANN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2000 9:15 PM Subject: [FLSUWANN] Williams > > I have a William J. I have a William J. Williams, b. ~1836, NC, son of Stephen H. Williams and Sarah Hill. They moved from NC to Hamilton Co. sometime I think in the 1850's. Stephen was a blacksmith and also served a couple of terms as Justice of the Peace. I have lots on the children of Stephen and Sarah but nothing on William. Could your William be the son perhaps of my William? I had also done Midway Cemetery; I last updated in 1998. could I be of help? I'm not sure who you were looking for. I can tell you there were several John Henry Williamses in the Lee area.
