One I believe may have been written by Lawrence Wills (who wrote several books about the Lake Okeechobee area. Also read one awhile back called "Hurricane". I don't recall the author. But my sister has book and I could get it. I'm sure Pahokee Public Library could give you names of books about the hurricane, since it was one of the area severely damaged. I did visit a cemetery where relatives are buried out from Pahokee at Pt. Myaca Cemetery (between Pahokee & Okeechobee), where there was a mass burial site and a memorial has been placed there.
