Hello from the UK I have just subscribed to the List as I have several relatives who moved to West Palm Beach about 1928 from Illinois. They remained (apart from one who got married and moved to NC in 1972) until they died, I believe all by about 1975. None of them had children. I have several addresses in West Palm Beach from my mother's and grandmother's address book. I would appreciate any advice on how to find out more about them, ie the 1930 Census. Thanks for any help. Here is the text of the PANAMA CANAL, Obituary: Obituary of Orville Franklin Scism Star and Herald-Panama, Republic of Panama Sunday, June 4, 1944 page 2 O.F. Scism Dies in Florida of Heart Attack News of the death of Orville F. Scism, who was employed as a Senior Towboat Master in the Dredging Division, in Lakeworth Florida, was received Saturday at Balboa Heights in a cablegram from Mrs. Scism. He was 55 years old. Captain Scism and his family were in the States on vacation at the time of his death which was caused by a Heart Attack. He was granted 39 days leave of absence beginning May 15. A native of Frost Valley, New York, Captain Scism first came to the Isthmus July 20, 1917 when he was employed as a Towboat Master. After about six months he left the service and was re-employed in Mar 1924. He was promoted to Senior Towboat Master in 1940. In addition to his wife, Captain Scism is survived by a son, Charles O. Augusta and gertrude were put in an orphanage at an early age after their father died and their mother split to Palm Beach Florida around 1905. Nellie Walker had married and was living in Atlanta at the time(info not verified). Augusta Walker ended up marrying Hubert O. Sibley and they moved to Atlanta. Hello, Looking for possible obituaries for Hugh Cady CAMPFIELD  and or wife Marybelle M GATES  CAMPFIELD.   Hugh Campfield died October 21, 1982 and retired in Palm Beach about 1962 from work in Sidney Austrailia.   Marybell M GATES was born 1898 and died October 12, 1986. Hi Since thats a fairly recent date you might be able to go on line for the area, look for the newspaper. Many now have obits on line. I've seen them for about a 10 year time period. I don't have acess here in Ohio to do a microfilm search for you, but that would the other suggestion. Sent a note to a local library. Often they have them. According to his death certificate, in 1944 my great grandfather was buried in Pinecrest Cemetery in either West Palm Beach or Lake Worth. I have tried in vain to obtain a phone number or address for this cemetery. Internet searches and directory assistance have been fruitless. Does anyone know of a way to determine if this place is still operational? Perhaps it was taken over by another company and the name was changed. I would appreciate any help possible.
