Fl Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/PalmBeach/164 Surname: FIRTH ------------------------- I am in need of an obit for the following man. This info is from the SSDI at Rootsweb. HARRY FIRTH b.20 Jun 1899, d.02 Mar 1990 in zip code 33426 (Boynton Beach, Palm Beach, FL) SS#265-40-0538 issued in Florida. Many Thanks, Linda McDowell in CA
I am searching for any information concerning Emily DUBORD or DUBARD, who was living in Lake Worth on North D. Street in 1944. My grandaunt, Emily EWLOOD was born possibly in Buffalo, NY abt: Sept 1894. She later moved to Pittsburgh, PA with her family and was listed on the 1920 US Census, taken in Pittsburgh, as Emily HOLLINGER, living with her parents and her daughter, Emily M. HOLLINGER, who was born in June 1916. Following family stories that stated she moved to Florida, taking her father with her, I searched for my great-grandfather's death in the Florida death index and found him. After sending for his death certificate I found that he was living with either his daughter or his granddaughter at the time of his death. The name of the informant on the certificate is Emily DuBord or DuBard. This would be either my grandaunt or her daughter, my first cousin once removed. I would also like to know if the Palm Beach Co. library does city directory lookups if you call them. Although I lived in Florida for three years I am now living in Texas and unable to make a trip back to do research myself due to ill health. Thank you all! Dear List, Many thanks to all who responded to my request for obituary information. Charlie in PA.
Hi Charlie, The main paper in Palm Beach County is the Palm Beach Post. You may access the Post via GoPBI at www.gopbi.com or call them toll free at 1-800-432-7595. The Sun-Sentinel is also a daily but since it is based in Ft. Lauderdale tends to serve the Boynton Beach, Boca Raton or Delray Beach areas more than other parts of the county. You may reach them at www.sun-sentinel.com Regards, Michael Genealogy Planet > > > Subject: [FLPALMBE] Obit Lookups? > Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 19:27:23 EST > From: CHAS0413@aol.com > To: FLPALMBE-L@rootsweb.com > > Hi List, Can anybody tell me where or how I can get a photocopy of an > obituary for a death in West Palm Beach. Hi List, Can anybody tell me where or how I can get a photocopy of an obituary for a death in West Palm Beach. Thanks, Charlie in PA.
Hi Folks, I just wanted all of you to know how rewarding the posting of the little spoof of Palm Beach was on yesterdays list. I sent it to one other list, Union County Tennessee, where the community is more than consumed with living and enjoying life. They also do a lot of genealogy work. The response was unbelieveable. Two people complained about the spoof. The other responses have been overwhelming and I think most of the list members have commented. I've appended one so you can enjoy. I suggest if any of you had ancestors who came through E. Tennessee this is a good place to hang out. LOL I belong to several lists. Some of the others just go nuts when someone makes a mistake & sends a joke. Then you have to see email after email of others putting that person down. Chip is right when it comes to Genealogy. It is way more than tracking down names. Every time I find a new ancestor in my hunt, I can see them in my mind, even though I have never seen a photo of them. I imagine how they looked, how many hardships they must have suffered, see them struggling to raise a family of 12 or more. I feel the pain they went through when they had to bury a child. It's more than names......it's my roots!!!!!!!! You wanna know why people get more help here? It's because they care!!!!! They care when someone is sick & needs prayer! I've found that when a person is caring, they are also a sharing person who is willing to do a lookup for you. And to Gale from Colorado: If you'll send me your mailing address by private email, I'll send you out a box of The Original Moon Pie!! Folks, it's time to laugh. Enough!!!! Bill Hunter A lawyer in Washington received the following inquiry from a prospective client Friday: "I was wondering if you could represent me. I played the Powerball Lottery yesterday ($61 Million Jackpot). I didn't win. I think I entered the wrong numbers because the form was so confusing; too many numbers to pick and all. The numbers I meant to enter were the winning ones. I want to sue someone."
Hello, I am a West Palm Beach resident and want to advise rootsweb that your web site appears to be depriving me of my constitutional rights because I am unable to match your letter categories with their associated web links. As a member of the most stupid community in American I demand that you take down your web site until you have obtained a door-to-door hand signed approval from all West Palm Beach residents of anything that you wish to put online. :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Elwood Matson is buried Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, b. Sep 1867 and d. 11 Dec 1960. Is there a cemetery survey of this cemetery that is available? I would like to determine if his wife or other family members are buried there as well. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be welcome. Suzanne Collins Matson

Hi - I'm looking for info from an obit for Lillian Hays who died in Lake Worth in March 1979. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris in Iowa
I am searching for BIRTH SIBLINGS born in West Palm Beach, FL. & TAMPA. The Tampa baby was born between 1952-1956 I think. One baby (a male) was born Club Footed and adopted by someone who lived in Lake Clarke Shores, WPB. Possibly a doctor. We think this was sometime around 1960. Your birth Certificate should say as follows: Childs name: Infant DeBuhr or infant Schnabel Mothers full maiden name: Hertha Hilma Yonke: Color or race: White :BirthPlace: Crofton, Nebraska Usual occupation: Waitress: Possible mailing address at the time could have been: P.O. Box 234 Riviera beach, FL. OR TAMPA (Lutz): Doctors name could have been: Samuel A. Manalan/Manahan or Dr. Baldwin ...?. Birth mother signed the B/C as: Mrs. Hertha DeBuhr or Mrs. Hertha Schnabel. BM also went by WILMA. We think there are 2 girls and 1 boy still out there and they may be looking too. These children would have been born AFTER 6-17-1947 and most likely the 2 girls after 1947 were one right after the other. The youngest being a boy born in or around 1960. Birth mother Hertha was born June 1 1922. We think she may have had babies in these years: Possible Baby/s born between 3-17-48 and 2-18-50 Possible/s baby born between 8-1-59 and 12-31-60 If you have access to your original birth certificate look for these name: Hertha Hilma Nickname: Wilma Maiden name: Yonke Married names: DeBuhr/Schnabel My mother was one of these adoptees, 4 total! We have found the birth family and are looking for the other adoptee siblings. They were born at either St Mary's and/or Good Samaritan hospitals or a Hosp in Tampa.

Is this union local in Palm Beach County? Or was? Suzanne Collins Matson
I have a copy of an obituary for Elwood Matson that states he was a member of George Morgan Ward Chapel. He died in 1960. Does this chapel still have an active congregation? Thanks for any help. Suzanne Collins Matson
Hi, Through the assistance of several people on this list, I have located the name of the cemetery where Elwood Matson is buried. He is buried in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery. Is there a cemetery survey for Palm Beach County that includes Hillcrest Memorial? If so, would someone be willing to do a look-up for me? I would like to know if his wife is buried there as well. Her name is Katherine O'Donnell according to the SS-5 of John Elwood Matson, Sr. Suzanne Collins Matson
I'm researching the surnames Pomeroy, Holmes and Robb. My searches have taken me from England, Ireland and Scotland to Canada, on to Michigan and finally to Florida which is where I was born. The ancestor I'm presently researching is William Pomeroy who was born in Croswell, Michigan but moved to Jensen, Florida, and married Georgina Smith Holmes, who was also from Michigan. His brother, James, also came to Florida. In the early part of the 1900's, they owned and operated pineapple plantations along the eastern coast. Georgina Smith Holmes brother James Holmes was involved in the pineapple industry and was very prominent in the area. Around 1915, these plantations were no longer profitable and the land was sold and William Pomeroy purchased a grocery store in central Florida. In the course of my searching, I have found that there is a published history and genealogical record in the West Palm Beach library on Clematis Street. From a previous message on this list, I see that there is also a Genealogical Society that is based in this library. I was hoping that there would be someone in the West Palm Beach area that would be willing to find out if this book is in fact at the library and if it was written by my ancestor William Pomeroy. I believe the name of the record to be "History and Genealogy of the Pomeroy Family". I am in Omaha, Nebraska and won't be coming to Florida in the near future. Is there anyone willing to help? Regards, Janet Farrell
