    3. I am searching for information on the family of Louis B. and Lena _?_ Floyd. I found them on the soundex for 1910 in Amite Co, MS.. I could not find the film for the census, I looked at the university library in Hattiesburg and the local library where I live in Picayune MS, was missing both places. Does anyone know if there was a problem with Amite Co 1910 Census? I searched the 1920 soundex and did not find the family. Louis B Floyd age 40 Lena 33 James H 9 Mary D 5 Louis G (Guy??) 4 [Could be Guy, I know there was a brother Guy] William H. 3 Alice V 11 mos The person I'm researching is Sally Ellis Floyd. She would have been born after the 1910 census to the above Louis and Lena. Sally died on 8/3/1958 in Houston Texas. She was married to Floyd William Herring Sr. She had been a deputy sheriff in Harris County for about 10 - 15 years at the time of her death. Sally had a sister called Bessie and one named Gladys. Gladys was the "baby" of the family, was born 1918. Sally is my son's paternal grandmother. If anyone knows anything of this family, PLEASE contact me at gnolte2@ametro.net. Thank you..

    2. J & K Wertman
    3. Damon, We seem to have two surnames in common and I wondered if there could be a link. (I had trouble getting to your "Marriages" page to check it out for myself.) These surnames are FLOYD and WEBB. I have good FLOYD information including a couple of photographs. I understand that my FLOYD line originated out of England, a division of that English surname LLOYD. I have been told of a Cherokee and/or Pocahontas Indian connection coming from my David C. Floyd born 1828 in Washington County, Virginia married Mary Stewart line. Do you have any connection to this David Floyd's ancestor, Hickman Valentine Floyd born 1801 in Old Salt Works, Washington County, Virginia, the son of William Thomas Floyd born 1779 Virginia, married Ellen Colley? David C. born 1828 and wife Mary Stewart Floyd had a son named William Oceola with that given name (Oceola) to have been a namesake of Mary's ancestor, a Cherokee Chief. My WEBB line originates in 1600 England and goes through Kentucky by the late 1800s. This line connects with Daniel Boone (from the England marriage of John Webb to Mary Boone) and it also connects with the Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle Webb lines. Do your Webb connections interesect here anywhere? I would be most interested to learn of any possible connection. Seems like there ought to be one. I have much info, just don't know where to begin in trying to connect with you. Let me know if you suspect there is one, ok? 3. Hey list members I have an idea, what would everyone think about posting our oldest 5 generations on the list and let everyone copy them down and then we could all study them and maybe learn something about how we are all related. That is the oldest FLOYD generations and no living people. We probably could correct many mistakes and wrong judgements. Lets hear a little "chatter" about this. I am from the Morris, John, Morris and Andrew of York,SC line. Bill
