Hello, The only info I have on my grandmother is the data in the Social Security Death Index in California: Grace Elizabeth Floyd born 3-11-1907 Birth Place - SC and Died 1-25-1953 CA I found Grace Floyd living with a friend in Richmond VA 1920 census - I have an old postcard from the same address so I know that is the correct Grace Floyd She married Edward Davis from Alexandria Va. around 1926. Nothing else I am afraid. I would like to pay for someone to research this - since I live in California. Any news would bring great happiness to my mother who is counting on me to find her relatives. Also, Does anyone have any clue where these Floyds' came from and where they went: 1910 census Northampton Virginia Almer 32 Emily 32 wife 7 years married Eva 9 Grace 6 Thomas 5 Virginia 1 not named 0/12 Kind regards, John Bryant (562) 243-1436
Monroe Floyd bn SC md Lucy BARRETT bn 1855 Calhoun Falls, Abbeville County, SC. Both are in Hart County, GA when they marry in 1882. They have maybe nine children. Need everything on these two. Lucy was maid in Micajah Carters house in 1870. She had three children before she married. Robert Lee BARRETT, John Henry BARRETT and Luther (?) BARRETT. Thanks Carolyn L Carter Rock Hill, SC
I could use any information on these brothers. William T. FLOYD married Joyce Vickers children David B. b. 1832 Alabama and James Vickers FLOYD b. 1838 Alabama. Elisha and William T. were found in Houston, Texas in early 1830's owned a hotel. Elisha FLOYD is found 1850 Grimes County, Texas with sons Charles E. & William. Thanks to anyone that could possibly help with this family. Please email me at vickye@usaonline.net Vickye White Box 91 Tarzan, Texas 79782
I am on a "needle search in a haystack" My great-gr-grandmother was named Agness Greener/Griner/Gruner. She was born Sept 1822 in GA according to the 1900 census or according to her tombstone 6 Jan 1821. My grandfather, born in 1900, knew her and stated that she was "full blooded" Indian and her husband was "full blooded" German. The first time I find this family is in 1870 on the Henderson Co, TN census. She is listed head of household with 6 children who consistently through the years state they were born in TN. This places her marriage ca 1851 and first child is born Mar 1852. I have not located this family in 1860. Tn had a direct tax collected during the civil war. This was approved in 1862, but I do not know exact date of collection or list making. She was not on this list for Henderson Co or the other counties in the area that I have checked so far. On the 1870 census her real estate value is $200.00 so she owns property by then. He husband has died/left since conception of last child which was born Mar 1864 and the 1870 census. There are a couple of Floyd families in Decatur Co, TN , but have found no connection. Does anyone have a Floyd family in GA with a daughter by this name/age with any of that family coming to TN, especially the Henderson/Decatur Co area? A picture of one son supports the Native American story. We believe she was living in the area during the civil war because of stories told. Thanks!! Wow! I wanted to share with everyone this terrific experience I had last week. This is what it is all about! For some time now I have been driving through a little town called Yantis, Wood County, Texas in hopes of someday getting up the courage to ask if I could go into my Great Great Grandfather's old house. On Memorial Day I drove to Yantis from our farm to put flowers on all the graves and low and behold, my Great Great Grandfather's house had been turned into an antique store. So I turned to my husband and said "sorry hun, but I have to go in. I promise not to stay long!" He knew how important this was to me, so said okay I'll just sit in the car and wait. Well five hours later and two trips later, I finally came home to Colorado, but not without finding lots of neat things! The couple who currently own the house, Jo An and Noble Coker, said that Noble's parents bought the house from my Great Grandmother back in 1943 and it has been in the family ever since. In fact, when they got the house they were told to never sell it. My good fortune! The house is still pretty much intact the way it was when my Dad was a little boy. Same hardwood floors and basically the same rooms (other than a screened in porch had been walled in and a closet made a bathroom). Jo An also does research and she was elated! We talked and talked about the two families. By the way, the gold mine was that Jo An had the original deed which she made a copy of for me. It turns out that when my Great Great Grandfather got out of the Conferderate Army he packed up everything in Tennessee and travelled as far as the train would take him. This ended up being Yantis. He orginally had 10 acres which became his wifes upon his death. In 1914 M E deeded the land to her son, James Harrison Floyd and his wife Ella Americas Lunsford Floyd. In 1916 he bought some more acreage from a neighbor and in 1917 he bought more from a relative, Mr. Pepper. Jo An says that when Ella sold the property to Nobles' parents, Ella and her daughter Maude were living there alone and they had to wait for them to find another place to live before they could take possession (almost a year). I know to some of you this may not seem like much, but my Great Grandfather was actually laid to rest in the living room of that home. It gave me goose bumps just to stand there and take it all in! The extra bonus for me is that I now have a new friend with whom I can share lots of memories! Too bad it doesn't always turn out this way for everyone! Anyway, just wanted to share this with the group. Thanks Sandie Floyd Kane

I have added the 1790 Census for NC, SC, MD and the1800 Census for MD, PA, NC, SC, VA to my Web Page. Damon Floyd (Muncie, IN) damonf12@home.com Webb Page http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~damon/
Damon, You can add this to your page if you don't have it. Jane Notes: 1)These were copied from a census index. I didn't verify their accuracy. 2)All locations were listed as counties except those noted as districts. 3)"Salem" was absorbed by Sumter in 1800. All records burned in a 1801 fire at the Sumter courthouse. 4)I couldn't find anything about "Waccamaw" but I assume it's Horry Co. Dear Floyd listmembers, I just subscribed in hopes that I may be able to help someone out a little. A few years ago a friend gave me a photo he took in a cemetery on Long Island, NY (not sure which one). It shows the very nice old headstone for Ann Floyd. Complete transcription: In Memory of Ann wife of Coln. Benjamin Floyd who Departed this Life May 29th AD 1773 Aged 28 Years. I am not related to the Floyd family and don't need the photo, so I'd like to send it to someone who does. If anyone on the Floyd list is interested, send your name and address to my e-mail address, and the photo is yours. I only have one copy, so if more than one person wants it, they can work that out. Hope I can find a home for this photo! Steve Frevert

I am researching John Floyd, Sr. Born about 1750 in Amherst Co., Va, married Nov. 1778, died 12 April 1783 in Kentucky. He married Jane Buchanan who was born about 1760. Are there any other descendants out there?
Hi, Merry! Would any of the Floyds you are looking for include Thomas Floyd Sr., believed to be father of Fedrick Floyd who married Mourning Bass? Fedrick's children were born between about 1799 and 1924: Lucinda, Harty, Rebecca, Shadrick, Nancy, John, Thomas, Washington J, Amos Kinchen (my line), Eliza, and Frances Mary Ann. What little info I have on Fedrick suggests he was from NC but we believe that Amos Kinchen was born in Pulaski County, GA. -- Patti Gettinger Acworth, GA Researching: HANCOCK, SIMMONS, FLOYD, DAVIS, WATSON, WILLIAMS, CALLAHAN, DARITY, HOLCOMB, TERRY http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/e/t/Patti-Gettinger/
Hello, Cousin Glenn! Amos Kinchen Floyd is also my ggg grandfather! I am descended from his son, George Washington Floyd. I've got some information posted on my website (see address below) but I've corrected and added alot of information since this listing. I'm delighted to share all that I have, and would be thrilled to add new information. I'm sometimes a little slow about responding to my email (life is mighty busy!!) but I'd love to compare notes. -- Patti Gettinger Acworth, GA Researching: HANCOCK, SIMMONS, FLOYD, DAVIS, WATSON, WILLIAMS, CALLAHAN, DARITY, HOLCOMB, TERRY http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/e/t/Patti-Gettinger/
