My Floyd is a mystery. Agness Greener according to a child's death certificate was a Floyd and according to a grandchild was also full blood Indian. Census and death certificate says she was born in GA. She was born Jan 1821 and was married by 1852 ( birth of 1st child) . The last child was born in 1864. All children according to census and death certificates were born in TN. Marriage date or place cannot be found. It is believed that the husband was Henry Andrew Greener ( or similar) a German. He returned to Germany and never came back OR he died in the Civil War are the 2 family stories. The first time she and children are found is the 1870 census in Henderson Co, TN. She is a land owner. Purchase deed cannot be checked due to nonexistence, but she sells the land. There are so many Floyd families in GA I hardly know where to start. Any ideas or missing daughters of this age named Agness? Oldest son is named John with the 2nd named Andrew. Two daughters are Elizabeth Frances and Mary Frances. Was her mother Frances ? Thanks!! According to cemetery records my GGgrandfather, Nimrod Floyd was born 15 DEC 1806 and died 25 AUG 1856 & is buried in Meigs County, Tennessee. I believe (based on census records) he was born in Tennessee & a Nimrod F. is in the Campbell County census in 1830 with a wife & small son. The next record I've found is his marriage to Mahala Keller, my GGgrandmother Floyd, 9 Jul 1837 in Rhea County, Tennessee. They are listed in the 1840 & 1850 McMinn County census & in 1858 after Nimrod's death Mahala moved with their 10 children to Dent County, MO. with the Andrew Emory family. If anyone has any connection or can give me any direction to go with this I would appreciate it very much. I have not been able to find Nimrod's first family (if it is the same person) or any siblings or parents for him. One cousin says she was told Mahala's maident name was Emory but on the marriage certificate she is Mahala Keller. Thanks for your help. Vernetta Nelson v.b.nelson@ ourtownusa. net 5895 N. Hello, I live in St. Louis, Missouri and saw on the local news tonight that There is a BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK - 1843 - 1963 ( North St. Louis) that is Looking for persons with family buried there. The airport is being expanded and they are going to move the CEMETERY. Is there a way to get this message to as many listers as possible in a short amount of time? Can you help! Alexandra BRIDGETON MEMORIAL PARK, Bridgeton, Missouri This burying ground at 4616 Long Road was made into a memorial park in 1962. In 1959 several lawsuits were filed against the City for allowing the cemetery to deteriorate. Individual stones had already been removed "through error and misunderstanding" but members of the Bridgeton Historical Commission were able to learn the names of some who were buried there and a large monument was erected in 1963 which bears this inscription, "We honor the people buried here. They were part of this nation's adventure and their vision lighted the path we follow today." At the dedication ceremonies, Mrs. Anna Wilson gave a talk about African-American veterans who are buried here. Records indicate that the cemetery was integrated from its beginning. It was in use as late as 1954 and at least 100 people are buried in the two acres. On the bronze plaque of the monument are the following names: (alphabetized by secondary poster) Adams, Annie Adams, Benjamin Adams, George Adams, Lottie Alexander, Ben Alexander, George Alexander, Henry Alexander, Lucy Allen, Eugene Young, Mary Ann Black, Sam Bassett, Arthur Bivens, Febie Bivens, George Bivens, Lizzie Bivens, Millie Bivens, Rafe Bivens, Samuel Black, Cosley Black, Edward Black, Hiram Black, King Carter, Bell Cheeks, Lilly Clanton, Henry Dickson, Fred Duglas Jr., Joe Edwards, Auston Edwards Jr., Auston Edwards, Grace Edwards, Katie Galliger Family, The Grannison, Almiria Haggerty, Jack Hall, Creed Hall, Hillard Hall, Hiram Wadlington, Texas Hall HallJr., Creed Heidron Children, The Hodge, Lizzie Hodge, Steve HornFamily, The Jackson, Nasrus Johnson, Amy Johnson, George Johnson, Julia Johnson, Robert Johnson, Turner Knight, Mr. Lewis, Henry Lint, Hal Lint, Luvenia McClure Family, The Moore, Jessie Mumps, Enoch Phillips, Elio Phillips, Eliza Phillips, Ike Phillips, Tilly Phillips, Walter Pruitt, Bell Pueroa Family, The Riddle, Fred Robertson, James Rush, Will Scott, Baron Scott, Louise Scott, Lydia Smith, Laura Stanton, Roberta Stevenson, Lewis Steward, Fred Stocker, Henry Taylor, Joseph Thompson, Abe Thompson, Henry Thompson, Hiram Thompson, Jenny Tucker, Mamie Vonsray, Barney Walker, Edward Walker, Kit Walker, Lizzie Walker, Quiller Walker, Tommy White, Barbara White, John White, Noah White, Shibina William Dr., Berry Wilson, Alice Wilson, Ernest Wilson, George Woodson, Theodore Woolfolk, Baby Woolfolk, Hadley Wright, Gibson Wright, Hiram Wright, Mamie Young, Green Young, Skip This list was given to me by : The Missouri Historical Society P.O. The 1830 census for Sevier County, Tennessee shows 2 Nathaniel Floyds, one old and one young. It also lists a Richard Birdgette (Bird) Floyd born in SC in 1804 and his wife Elizabeth, born in TN. They had 8 children-Thomas H. born 1838, Isaac born 1835, Richard born 1839, Eli born 1842, Henry born 1844, Jemima born 1845, Jane born 1847, and Robert born 1831. Thomas H Floyd served as a Pvt. in the Union Army during the Civil War. He got a pension which enabled him to buy land. He married Elizabeth McFalls and they settled in the Walden's Creek Community of Sevier County. Their children were James Richard, Arthur, Margaret Melinda, Isabella (Fanny) and Rebecca. Before the family was grown Elizabeth died and Thomas moved his family to the Roaring Fork Community above Gatlinburg, TN. In addition to farming, Thomas was a Primitive Baptist preacher. James Richard married Rebecca Jane Ogle of the famous Sevier County Ogle family. They had 10 children one of which was my father, Lawson Eli Floyd who was born in 1904. Their other children were Anna Melinda--1897, Mary Rosetta--1895, Ollie Arlena--1902, James Thomas--1899, Elbridge Madison--1910, Ernest Lee--1908, Lillie Mae--1891, Minnie Isabel--1906, and Rebecca Lizzie--1893. In the 1920's the Smoky Mountain National Park bought out all the farms on the Roaring Fork for inclusion in the park and my grandfather moved what was left of his family at home to the Glades section of Sevier County. My father, Lawson Eli Floyd married Jane Ogle of Sevier County and they had 2 daughters, Reba and Eula Gale. He subsequently was divorced from Jane Ogle and married my Mother, Minerva Able of Townsend area of Blount County, TN. I was their only child. My father died in 1992. I married Don Carrigan of Alcoa, TN and we have 3 grown children. We live at the foot of the Smoky Mountains in Walland, TN. I have only named my direct line; all of the Floyds in my branch down through the years had families and many of the names of Richard Bird's children show up all through the family. If anyone is interested in any of the others, please let me know and I will share all the information I have. Some of them have left Tennessee but many of them still remain here. By the way, the two Nathaniel Floyds were both missing by the 1840 census and I don't know what happened to them. Doris Floyd Carrigan
