Good evening: William May was born in Georgia in 1811. In 1860 he resided in Alachua County FL with his wife Nancy and four sons and two daughters range from 22 to 8. In 1857 William was appointed a Road Commissioner in Alachua County. A number of years earlier in 1838 we find a William May who was successful in the Georgia land lottery of that year. There is also a William May as a Corporal in the Seminole Indian Wars as a member of the Florida Militia. These may or may not be our William, and further confirmation is required.
