Well I had an interesting experience about adoption and birth certificates too. I have always known I was adopted. When I had my daughter in Florida I was sending for her birth certificate and I thought I would send for mine too. I got a surprise. When my birth certificate came there were 2. One prior to the adoption and one after! the original one had the birth mothers name (maiden) where she was born, how many other children she had, etc. Very interesting. But regardless of all that I have always considered my adoptive family my real family and I do genealogy on that family line. I am mildly curious but I have never tried to find the other family.
