With all the talk of vital records: I wonder about the chances of people being left off the death index while there could in fact be a death certificate. My gggrandfather, Zeb R Jones died in Graceville, Jackson Co, FL on Nov 19, 1927 or 1928. I would have expected a death certificate. I checked the death index myself and did not find it. State of FL says there is none. Does anyone know if the vital stat office checks the certificates or just the index? Is there a reliable way to have them search the certificates?
