Pamela, Christine, and All, Several people missed and have asked about our announcement of the Sandra Luebking Spring Workshop in Palatka on May 8, so I'm reposting this. Anyone who would like one or more hard-copies of the flier can have them by giving me a snail address. I say again: Sandy is wonderful, and you would all be welcome! --Brian Michaels On Saturday, May 8, Sandra Hargreaves Luebking, author of Ancestry's classic genealogy text, The Source, and A Guide to the National Archives Field Branches, will be the speaker at an all-day Putnam County Genealogical Society Spring Workshop to be held in the St. James United Methodist Fellowship Hall on US 17 in downtown Palatka, Florida. Mrs. Luebking, a nationally known author and lecturer from the Chicago area, also edits The Forum, newsletter of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, and is a coordinator of the nationally known Samford University Institute of History and Genealogical Research in Birmingham, Alabama. Her topics will include: "JOURNEY INTO GENEALOGY"--an overview of how genealogists work--which will motivate beginners, revitalize the experienced, and intrigue newcomers interested in their family history. "FINDING FEMALES: GRANDMA, WHERE ARE YOU?" will focus on how to pursue the most elusive of our ancestors: the females. This session will introduce several search strategies, using 19th-century examples. "CIRCUMVENTING BLOCKED LINES" presents sure-fire search strategies for lines on which we have run into brick walls. "NAME THAT SOURCE" will present unusual and seldom-used sources for solving research problems and explain them in a quiz-show format, with contestants, prizes, and an emcee. A really unique presentation! SATURDAY, MAY 8, 1999: 8:30 a.m-4:00 p.m. > Lectures, vendors, doorprizes, and a catered luncheon for $30 registration if mailed by April 15 ($35 thereafter).
