    3. Tamara, James Booth died in Pinellas County (St. Pete) in May of 1965. His death certificate is filed in the FL State Bureau of Vital Statistics Office (PO Box 210, Jacksonville 32231-0042). They'll send you a copy for $5 and a letter giving his name, date (5/65), your name and address, and these numbers: Volume 2714, Certificate #30477. When you have a death date, the Pinellas County Library System should be able to get you an obit through direct request or Interlibrary Loan channels from your local library. If you really want to find his records--if they exist--you might query the Pinellas County Bar Association to see if they know which firm, if any, they went to--or whether perhaps his firm still exists and still has them in storage. I tried to get to a Martindale-Hubbell Directory from the early 60s, but the University of Florida Law Library's space problem has denuded their shelves prior to the 90s editions. You might query the University of Georgia at Athens or the Law Library at FSU in Tallahassee. If they have one, they can get you a quick and concise bio sketch from it. The Florida Bar in Tallahassee (650 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32399-2300) will check their records for you, but they need a written request (no charge!) telling them what you want ("all available information of record"). They'd like to have his registration number, but if you don't have it, ask 'em anyway. The ABA claims to have nothing and says they wouldn't give it out if they did. So there now, too. (Yanh, yanh, yanh!) [Can anybody else help? Thanks!] Good luck! --Brian Michaels ******************************************* Tamara Bowden wrote: > > Does anyone know where I can find the records of someone who was a > lawyer in St. Petersburg?
