Debbie, The Florida Combined Death Index "covers" 1877-1992, as far as I know, though it may have been updated beyond '92, but much of the coverage is very spotty and hit-or-miss. Only in the mid-1920s do chances of finding someone become much better than 50-50. Some people much later have slipped through the cracks, nevertheless. Marriage and divorce indexes begin only after 6 June 1927--prior to that you have to know the county of the event and query the clerk of courts there. There is no publicly available index to or list of birth certificates of which I am aware, and birth records in Florida are essentially confidential for 100 years or so. I would not really want to deal with requests for more than five people at a time--and not too many of them--and even then only if the death years are known or can be closely estimated. I have not given anybody any fiche numbers (because I have none), and I must leave such things to the LDS Family History Centers themselves. What I can provide are references to the volume and the certificate number where the death is recorded in the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics in Jacksonville. In many cases in earlier years only the death year or month and year are given--one needs to order the certificate to know the date. I'm happy to post this information on the Florida List; in fact, I've done it several times in the past few weeks.... I hope this helps. Aloha to you, too! --Brian Michaels in Palatka ***************************************************************** Deborah Davis wrote: > > Hi Brian, > > I have been watching for sometime now and I have noticed your wonderful > volunteer work.
