The Shakers, or United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing, are the most enduring and successful of the many communitarian societies established in America in the 18th and 19th centuries. Having peaked in the decades before the Civil War, only one active community remains today at Sabbathday Lake, Maine. The Shakers, however, have left a strong legacy of accomplishments and an approach to life which is relevant to people of the 21st century. Thursday, October 10 – $5.00. Getting Started With Your Family History. This class is for true beginners who are unfamiliar with how to begin their family history or genealogy project. Thursday, October 17 – $5.00. What's A…. This class discusses terms found in documents encountered by genealogists and family historians. Thursday, October 24 – $10.00(includes supplies). Scrap booking Your Family History. This class is a hands-on demonstration of how to create a scrapbook of your family photographs and mementoes. Participants are asked to bring approximately 10 photographs for inclusion in an example page. ***NOTE: CLASS BEGINS AT 6:30 P.M. Thursday, October 31 – $5.00. Finding Your Confederate Ancestor.
