I have in my possession a batch of letters of an ancestor of mine. In one of them, her future husband makes reference to being "in the swamp helping on the kidnap case" . The letter was dated January 1938, no full date is given and the post mark is obscured. Does anybody know about this case or where I can find information. I am not sure in what capacity he was helping but he implies he was in the swamps a long time as he had been bitten all over. Apparently he was in business in Miami though what it was I can not tell. In a later letter of the 10 May 1938 he talks about moving the "business" to Homestead. I presume that is in Florida, which is something easy to check. A second question, does anybody know if Trade Directores exist for Miami and Homestead for the years 1938-1939?? Regards from over the Pond.
