My memory is not that great, but - at the State Archives in Tallahassee there is a roll or so of microfilm containing the applications (and denials) for property under the Armed Occupation Act. The requirements are spelled out on the microfilm. I think I remember it stating the person had to be free, male (may be white, not sure), over 21 years of age, and have been on the property for five years, and agree to bear arms. Please do not quote this as gospel, but I am sure there is more information on this. I hope this helps. Cindy Regarding: >>>My question is: Does anyone know what it means when land was issued under Armed Occupation Act (27 Stat. 502) authority Aug 4, 1842? Is this a land record I should send for also? Will what I receive give me more than just the township and range info? Should this be sent to FL Archives or NARA? Suggestions please.<<<
