Includes two times and two locations. (a) 10:AM to Noon at Brevard Museum of History and Science on Michigan Ave and (b)Brevard Central Library on Forrest Ave from 7:pm to 8:30. A) Topics for the museum include a presentation from local historian Sandra Natowich. She will talk about early pioneers. Following that a presentation by Ray Osborne from his book "Time Passages: Local Tales" about the presidential visit of Grover Cleveland on 2-22,1888 to Florida. This subject will be repeated at the library evening session. B) At the Central Brevard Library, Michael Boonstra a certified geneologist will speak about a local architect by the name of Richard W. Rummell. Rummell was born in New York in 1887 and settled at Courtenay on Merritt Island in 1915 with his young family. Mr. Rummell was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of architecture and was among the first degreed architects in the state of Florida. He was involved in the citrus industry in the early days and his widow still owned the family groves on Merritt Island at her death in 1989. Mr. Rummell designed many of Brevard Counties most recognizable buildings many of which survive today. These include Ashley's Restaurant and Valencia Road in Rockledge along with many buildings in Cocoa Village. Following that Dikki Jo Mullen a local writer will present a display in tribute to the late Melbourne Beach resident Sybil Leek whose birthday it is. 2) February 26th, 1:pm to 4:PM The First Annual "Presidents Day Cruise from Titusville to Cocoa."
