When I check the 1885 Florida census, it appears that the father has already passed away and both wives of Hugh Tedder are living right near each other, each with some of the children. They are all on the same census page...with the first group is "M. Tedder" listed as the "Mother" and says she is "divorced". She is in the household of some people by the last name of Perkins and Hinkle. Also in the household with the "divorced M. Tedder" is also "P. Tedder" (Perry?) and G.W. Tedder (George Washington?). Then, a few houses down is Nancy Tedder, 72 years old, listed as the "Mother", who is widowed. She is living in the household with "W. H. Tedder", (William Hugh?), who is also listed as "widowed". This would appear that that the elder Hugh Tedder divorced his first wife, then married a "Nancy" on the 1885 census. It seems the children were taking care of both "Mothers", Hugh's first wife "M. Tedder" and his 2nd wife- Nancy Tedder, just a few houses apart. (By the way, they are all living in Clifton, in Volusia county).
