When this bill was before the Florida Legislature there was more pressure from the agency keeping the records and adoptive parents than from genealogists so the bill passed the Legislature. It will be necessary for enough Genealogy Societies and individual voters in Florida to pressure their Senators and Representatives to get the law changed. It can be done, but it takes a real effort. Not surprisingly, the rules vary from state to state. For example, in Connecticut, all records of vital statistics, including births, are open for research to any member of a legally incorporated genealogy society. > >Not looking for a reply.
