Philip Fraser was a lawyer from PA practicing in Duval Co before the War between the States. He married into the old Fla Dewees family and had a number of children. I recall that some of the children are in the Dewees family plot in the Old City Cemetery. His house appears on the early maps of Jax which had belonged to the deceased husband of his wife. .He sided with the Union during the War and the family was forced to leave, and spend some time in the North until the War was over. After the War the family came back to Jax, since his wife's family were still there, and he was appointed a Federal judge. Eventually the family left again for the North where Judge Fraser died, I am told. My interest is in the Dewees family and related families, so I have some info on the Judge Philip Fraser family.
