I am still seeking information on William H. Creel who lived in the Polk Co., Fl. area near Eagle Lake, Fl. William H. Creel was born Oct. 1854 either in Ga. or Fl. (different census give different states of birth). >From 1860-1880 I find William H. in Berrien Co., Ga. After that in 1900 he is living in Polk Co., Fl. William H. Creel married Mary Jane Candance Fletcher b. Jan 1860(could be listed as Benefield because her step father was a Benefield) in Ga. sometime in the 1870s. I can't find a marriage record in Berrien Co., Ga. but I have been told by the Probate Judge here that sometimes couples didn't return after applying for a marriage license and the marriage may never have been recorded. Children of William H. and Mary Jane Candance Creel included: 1)Missouri b. Dec. 1876 married first time a Gaskins and had two boys from this marriage Andrew J. b. 1896 and David Gaskins 1898. Missouri was listed as a widow in her father's household in Polk, Co., in 1900. 2)Florence (don't have bd with me) married a Wiggins from Lakeland, Fl. She lived and raised her children there and died in the early 1960's. 3) Seward b. Feb. 1881 m. Ovida Thornhill whose family was living next door to this family in 1900. I don't know when Seward died. 4) Marion b. March of 1885 and married someone from around Jacksonville, Fl. I have been told. 5) Samantha Jane b. July of 1889 m. David Curry from Ga. around 1912. Samantha moved back to Berrien Co., Ga. where both of her parents had lived prior to moving to Fl. between 1885 & 1889. She died in Oct. of 1973 she is my Ggrandmother. 6)John P. b. 1891 lived in the Polk Co., Fl. area all of his life (I think). 7) Grover Cleveland (Cleve) b. Nov. 1892 lived in the Polk Co., Fl. area all of his life (I think). I remember in the late 60's seeing John (Johnny as my granny, his sister, call him)& Cleve one time in Lakeland, Fl. and one time when they came to S. Ga. to visit my ggrandmother. Any one who is a descendant of any of these people or has information on any of them I would love to hear from you. I know my Ggrandmother's family is not the only surviving descendants of William H. & Mary Jane Candance Creel. Rhonda
