Sue Ann, W.W. Cummer and family opened a cypress mill at Lacoochee, Florida, in 1922. It was known as "Cummer Sons Cypress Company." My father was one of many independent loggers who cut and hauled cypress logs to Cummer's for a time. Until Florida's vast cypress forests were decimated, this was a booming enterprise. Without timber to process, however, the mill closed in 1959.
