I've had several "private" queries about this, so I'll post it. Do forgive the apparent commercialism (which it isn't, because the book was a "volunteer thing" which benefits our local Archives. I don't make anything from it.) The book is THE RIVER FLOWS NORTH: A HISTORY OF PUTNAM COUNTY, FLORIDA (512 pp., hardcover, illus.) It was published in 1986 by the Putnam County Commission and the PC Archives & History Commission. There were 3,500 copies and it's nearing "out-of-print" status. I doubt that there'll be a reprinting or another edition for a number of years, since it cost the county $70,000+ to print it. It has been closely held by the county commission and is generally available only from the clerk's office, one art shop, and one bookstore. Andrea's Bookstore, 308 S. Highway 19, Palatka, FL 32177 (904-325-2141) [e-mail: <andrea@gbso.net>] has it and apparently ships it frequently. It sells for $25; tax and shipping make it $29.50 total. She takes e-mail orders using the major cards (even in Palatka!). As to an autograph, that's easily accomplished, since she's less than a half-mile from my office. She generally keeps some autographed ones, but I stop by whenever she has a request for a "personalized" signature. If you really want one, order it and have her hold it for a signature. Then e-mail me your instructions. I aim to please and I work cheap.... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The other book that listers are asking about is FLORIDA VOTERS IN THEIR FIRST STATEWIDE ELECTION: MAY 26, 1845. It is currently out of print, but I'm working on a revised second edition which should be out this summer. That's why I was in Tallahassee last weekend (to see the original sheets at the Archives and to see Bob Davis at the TGS workshop on Saturday.) The new edition will correct the omission of a Leon County precinct from the index in the first edition, correct the spelling of some misread names, and add an index to the Armed Occupation Act records of the early 1840s. The new edition, like the old one, will be available from the Florida State Genealogical Society. The old one was about 120 pp. and $20--don't yet know what the 2nd ed. will have to be; FSGS will decide, sell, ship, etc. It was another volunteer effort, so I have no financial interest in it, either. By the way, if anyone knows of an error in the first edition, e-mail it to me post-haste so I can check it out and correct it. Enough! "The rest is silence." --Hamlet and B. Michaels
