James Brooks at the top of the list came to Fla. around 1827 to 1829... Major land holder, and farmer. His Brother John Brooks was in the area and his friend Arthur Burney, Willis Burney, Harris Burney, James A. Goff, and crew were there during the Seminole wars. The next generation went through the civil war and my branch moved to Thomasville, while the other braches went different areas... there may even be relatives still living in the area only I don't know them. Can you see if there are any doc's on any of these above? - Bill Brooks, Vista. They also have a lot of the old newspapers on microfilm. It's a great resource of information right in your back yard... > > -----Original Message----- > From: William Brown [SMTP:willbees@mediaone.net] > Sent: Monday, March 08, 1999 7:47 PM > To: FLORIDA-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Florida Death Index > > Does anyone out there have a Fla Death Index for the late 1800s that > could check for a record for one person for me?
