Well, I have not done any kind of extensive research on these folks, so I am not really in a position to argue about it - I just sometimes jump in when folks have questions. Having said that, it definitely looks like Martha who married Wade Hampton Silcox was the daughter of Andrew and Martha to me. Here is why: 1. On the 1870 and 1880 census, Andrew and Martha have a daughter who is exactly the correct age to be Martha who married Wade. 2. I find no such Martha listed as a daughter of either William or Washington Johns (or any of the variations). 3. Wade H. and Martha Silcox named their first son Andrew J. Silcox. 4. In 1903, Andrew J. Johns' widow, Martha A. Johns, filed for a Widow's pension based on Andrew's Civil War Service. W. H. Silcox was one of two witnesses to the fact that Martha A. Johns was the widow of Andrew and that she owned less than $800 worth of property. My bet would definitely be on Andrew and Martha as Martha A. Johns Silcox's parents. Good hunting. I am researching Martha Johns, I thought this was the daughter of Andrew and Martha Tippins or Tippings....she was born abt 1862 in Clay Co, FL.....and I thought I had discovered that she had married Wade Hampton Silcox....now I am not sure if this the right Martha...even though the dates for birth are right.... I am wanting to know if this Wade Hampton Silcox (not sure of Dates) married Martha Johns, the daughter of Andrew and Martha Tippins Johns or the daughter of someone else (William Washington Johns)..... It is a bit confusing, but I like puzzles, especially in the family tree and would appreciate any help in trying to figure this out..... Thank you... Stephanie Grohol
